As for the guy who drives 2 hours each way in an EV:
Why live so far away from work?
If he cared about the environment, wouldn't moving closer reduce his carbon footprint?
So he has a car with ~250mile range and drives about 110 -130 miles each way (55 - 66 mph highway). So he charges every...
Sure, the drivetrain is less complex but the fuel system in an EV is several orders of magnitude MORE complex than an ICE. All you have is a tank and fuel pump.
I think we need to compare complexity of the entire unit, not just certain components.
JD Power said this:

Buying a battery can set you back by a hefty sum, but in most cases, you won’t have...
Add in the fact that damage or end of life batteries will cost nearly as much as a new replacement car, there will be no value in a used EV and those who can only afford a used car will not have a car they can afford from the slim pickings.
Quite interesting this was posted on MSN:

Yes, the motor is simple but the cooling system is far more complicated. That is the cooling system for your energy storage. Gas storage is simple by comparison, orders of magnitude simpler. The number of computers in an electric are far greater than in an ICE. What you remove in mechanical...
Everyone needs both sides of the conversation to make a personal decision.
Questions I would like to be answered by a pro electric are:
1. electric/ tree huggers people are not pushing for everyone to stop buying SUVs/Trucks and go for a less drag, lighter car. This would also reduce...
I never said I like or did not like the handling. I only said if it would be the way we like it. I expect the handling of a AWD to be different but that doesn't mean the Mustang crowd will go for it. This was what I was getting at.
I am sure there are less tree huggers here so I will post this article.
At the very least, it is food for thought:

With the Mock-E out there and looking at all the threads about the other variations that could have been has me asking:
1. What changes to the Mustang would I accept and would buy?
2. What changes to the Mustang would I not tolerate and they would lose me as a customer?
For me:
I would be...
To get 19 x10.5 / 19x11 wheels, you need to add the $4500 handling package which is standard on a PP2.
OK, you get a Tremec, 40 horses, a diff cooler and modern stuff. With the handling pkg, that adds up to $67,960 with nothing else otherwise you are not really comparing it to a PP2 at your...
10-15K differential buys a LOT of repairs ... if they are ever needed. With a Raceeng weighted shift knob, it shifts nice and smooth
I had a '86 Dodge Daytona Turbo Z (with an A525 tranny) that had the tranny in every 2-3 years for rebuild or worn clutches. Thank God it had a mandatory 7/70K...
15K markup for basically the same car after just 4 years is ridiculous.
I too have a '19 GT PP2. It was a hell of a bargain then and now.
I seriously doubt I will be able to afford a Mustang in my future so I will continue to baby mine.
