That’s awesome! I would love to build a Coyote motor too one of these days. How‘s your build treating you? Are you making a lot of power with it?

I hadn’t even heard anything about the CG Fabrication kit. I’ll take a look at it.

Any Coyote getting boost NEEDS The Oil Pump Gear & Sprocket upgrade generally speaking. Are there people out there with boosted cars without them that aren't having an issue? For sure.

But, for added support and insurance for a lack of better term; it's the way to go.

Is there a power goal you're looking for? Why single turbo out of curiosity?

Power is gonna be based on tuner and fueling, so just really depends on how much you wanna turn it up safely.
Are there any documented cases of a 2019+ breaking an OPG? This comes up in every forced induction thread, but nobody can ever provide an example...

Running like a clock. No boost yet , the power will be fun After I do. I’m just enjoys having it back on the road after a time consuming engine built. Getting all the parts from the USA etc
I’ve done 6500kms on the new engine. Going to do some track day and skid pan days and have some fun.

first pick CG fabrications stock kit.

this is a build on here. He custom made the cross over pipe to fit exaust. I think is did high 9’s on 10lbs or less. Pretty efficient set up with a FI 76/87 turbo.

Any video of it running at idle and on boost?

Theres much fewer gen3 coyotes with opg problems because gen3 got a sloghtly stronger one, you can get away with oem opg for a little while on boost but high power, higher rpm, and/or any type of 2 step limiter, like a rev limiter or 2step, will break them. Its a ticking time bomb, definitely worth doing at some point

im personally on a 93 setup ess, stock opg 10k miles but im definitely planning to upgrade before i go to e85

I'm putting them to the test. Boy those missed shifts are scary. 😂😂. Can’t wait to upgrade to the G3R and really test them.

I would "graze" an 8k rev limiter almost daily if not several times and my opgs were fine at 96k miles when I pulled the engine.

I don't think it's a legit concern, when I boosted my car I could not find a single example of a 2019+ and only 1 of a 2018.

Maybe stronger makes a minor difference, I have not heard the material was changed. they definitely did however change the damper in 2019 to mitigate the resonance that was causing the failures (allegedly) Can you find any examples of a 2019 or newer failing?

Back in 2018 iirc there were 2 reports of failures that appeared to be 2nd or 3rd hand information and basically no details. ”boosted f150” on yt broke his f150 gears but the f-150 has a different and narrower pump than the car, and likely different damper. 2018 got a fluid damper and Roush continued supplying the fluid damper in their kits some time after. Mid-2019 went back to the elastomer style, my guess is for cost reasons.

Material was mentioned, and potentially a factor. We know all the oem gears are powdered metal, but there are wildly different grades of powdered metal ranging from super brittle to very strong. We also know the gt350 and 500 also use PM gears.

And finally there’s the issue of the soft vs hard rev limiter. We know that early Whipple and Roush tunes, and many aftermarket tunes, inadvertently set the soft rev limiter higher than the hard limiter. Roush actually had a TSB and tune revision to fix this. I don’t know if Whipple fixed theirs but I can investigate later. It’s commonly believed that hitting the hard limiter is hard on the gears. Some of the diy tuners will actually set the hard limiter way past 8000, soft limiter where you want it, and some even do a load limit-based 3rd rev limiter (that will close the throttle) before the hard limiter.

I just receive the hot side piping back from Jet-Hot Coatings today. Everything turned out great! They’re still doing business exactly as I remembered from 14 years ago. Each piece was individually bagged in clear plastic and then wrapped in foam and taped. Lots of large bubble wrap was also used to make the ride back to me very comfortable.
