Having owned two cars with the Tremec and 2 with the MT82, I call shenanigans. The Tremec is much better in both the feel, shifting and performance. Hell, sometimes I couldn't even get the MT82 into reverse. The rev matching on the Mach 1 makes the implementation there even uhbetter than the 350. Clutch feel is better than the MT82. It's night and day.
Great insight. Im stuck; have a order for a 6 speed but not sure it will arrive. Shopping and see lots of 10R80 M1s.

Not drag racing. Maybe some track days. Just a weekend cruiser for me. While the big draw is the Tremec Im not sure I can pass on the available auto cars.

The 10R80 is good right….:)
If you want to grab a tremec-based coyote (albeit the TR3160 in a 23 spline configuration which is nothing short of puzzling to me), absolutely. My personal wish was for them to stick to a TR6060 or upgrade the TR3160... not downgrade it. The TR3160 is a decent transmission, but it's not a HUGE upgrade over the MT82D4 (outside of the gearing).
I have owned and DD both and couldn't disagree more

I like the idea of the Camaro, especially the 1LE, but everytime I look at one I see the batmobile. YUK!

The sticker price on the Camaro is under $40k and it has 12,000 miles and it’s a year old. So I think $42k trade in is pretty good lol. But they can manipulate the numbers and likely aren’t really giving me $42k trade in. At any rate, I’m not buying it.
This is the right call. I love my Mach 1, and it is IMO the best version of the best generation of one of the best affordable sports cars on the market... But if you like the Camaro and weren't that impressed by the Mach 1, it makes absolutely no sense to pay anything close to $20K for a one-year-newer car with negligible upgrades. Even if the dealer gave you an unimaginably great price, and it cost half as much to upgrade, it wouldn't make sense.

... but I'm sure I'm not saying anything that hasn't already been said.

I appreciate your insight here. You obviously know more about this than I do, so could you ELI5 for me how this is a downgrade from the TR3160 in the GT350 (at least I'm pretty sure that's what you're saying)? I'm not quite sure what splines are... I know I could probably google it, but I figure context will be valuable here, hah.

Subjectively speaking, the Tremec feels way better to me than the Getrag in my 2015 GT did... But I'm sure at least part of that is the tuning of the engine and throttle (less rev hang). And if it's even, say, 10% more reliable and robust, that seems like a solid win to me. Reliability is the main reason I don't have a GT350 in my garage right now.

The Tremec also hasn't locked me out of any gears (yet). It's also not near as jerky as the MT-82 can be in my personal experience.

The fact that the tremec is offered with No lift shift shows the confidence ford has on this transmission.

Who are you disagreeing with? You like the 82 better than the Tremec? That would be a first.

I had the Tremec at the Mach 1 Track Attack....worked great and never had an issue at high RPM shifting. This is in contrast to my 2013 GT with the MT82 that had intermittent fits at over 5k.

Tremec is worlds better. Every review I have ever seen has said the same. I was surprised to see someone from Lethal performance say different.

I think he was mostly just talking about how robust the transmission is, not as much how it drives... but I'm hoping he sees my earlier post and elaborates a bit. Because that viewpoint is still kind of surprising given all the crap we hear about the MT-82.

Can I squeeze into the convo? :)

As per the OP, I have the opportunity to buy a Mach1 and it's SOOOOO close to a perfect build for me...but not quite.

A few may scoff at my preference, but I do not want the HP - which the car does have - but it doesn't have the Recaro seats (which, admittedly, I also don't really want, but for an HP car - IMHO - they should have them). So for clarity, it's fully loaded, minus the Recaro seats.

Unfortunately where I live, I don't have fantastic roads (quite shit, honestly, LOL) to really enjoy what the HP brings. Plus this is going to be my summer DD. High-wearing, sticky track tires aren't the best for this. I'm still on the hunt for my "perfect" build, but this one is apparently going to be at the dealership in a month or two.

I haven't been on the forums for a long time, so I have some searching to do in terms of information...but I'm assuming this is the last year for the M1?

Also, what parts/pieces are not available with these cars? I know with the current state of shortages, some Ford vehicles (among other brands) haven't been shipping with certain things. Does the M1 (or Mustang in general) suffer from any of this? IIRC I've read that the front wheel arches are not being shipped yet?

indeed

none. they ship complete as ordered or not at all.

was never true AFAIK, just Ford and/or dealer parts departments being sloppy, careless, or incompetent
