I went to the RL site to review their data. It wasn't that downforce decreased, but that doing things like adding a Gurney to a stuck GT350 hood was a net loss overall. The RL Louvers actually had a significant bump.

What's more interesting is looking at the SN-95 data. It's sort of all over the place. Somewhere RL tested a ducted set up, but I can't find those tests at the moment.

Either way, as I stated earlier, I could be wrong. I am. There is a DF gain with the RL setup, but a reduction if you add a gurney to the factory set up. That is what I was remembering.

That “recessed louvers with a gurney” sounds like my trackspec witha gurney setup, except hood rigidity is fine because they have center ribs

The factory vent is really only useful when standing still I believe.

It sounds like he's referring to the Carter's Customs recessed hood vent solution there. They ship it to you flat and then you have to bend the vanes into place. It's cheap, but I said hell no immediately. It also doesn't have any center supports where as my Trackspec unit has two perpendicular supports on the large center vent and 1 each on the side vents.

I do wish the Trackspec were a little more 50/50 on the crease vs 85/15 with the majority sticcking below the surface.

I don't recall your set up, I thought it was fairly close to Fletchers. The image below, I think it's more of a GT500 style louver. Fletcher is closer to the second image.

Yeah similar to fletchers, but my wicker is bigger :) IDK when he added the one he's got.

Reason I was asking - I brought home almost perfectly looking shadow black hood off '22 with two dents from road debris someone was selling on fb marketplace nearby - wanted $150, offered $100 and I got it... Won't hurt as much to cut....

So from all this discussion I get that it probably doesn't make a whole lot of difference which out of 3 versions I pick...

Chop! Chop! Chop!

Take some prep time after you cut it up in order to sand the edges and spray exposed metal. I was in a rush to get the vents in and really should have taken more time on that step.

I did my stock hood, but no regrets at all. Mostly a little rain hasnt been a problem.

I was ready to cut my own (keep thinking maybe I will want to back to stock one day but highly doubt it'll ever happen) but it was hard not to take advantage of this.

Thanks for advice, I am not in rush so will take time but if I can test it on one of the few events we have left here, would be nice.

What did you spray it with ?

Yep this is spendy right now. A few years ago getting a used PP rear end and changing the ring and pinion to a 3.31 was affordable. Not now.
I found a 3.15 aluminum housing rear end on this forum. It's ready to go in when I can get some time & for the same reason.

I fabricated a wicker for my trackspecs (I copied Plimmer). I figured that was most of the advantage of the Race Louvers, but I'm also not going to have the resources to test that in a wind tunnel (although I could make my car available if someone wants to do that test).
Yarn tufts work great.

Right, meant to do that at some point and kinda forgot. Have the wing angle to look at now too, so maybe I’ll put a foot into the hobby and dress up the car as a muppet for halloween.

It's messy as hell, but K&N air filter oil is really good for doing flow viz stuff, too. It's relatively thin, so it flows, but it's sticky, so it leaves a trail. You can spray it around ducts and points of interest to at least see what the surface flow is doing.

Ok now you're just trolling.
