Getting low voltage warnings on my battery, low temps are probably exposing a battery that got heavily discharged a few times.

So rather than be let down when I need it most just going to replace the battery. However I have heard that if I change the battery type and Capacity the BCM needs to be reset or programmed?

I have forscan if that helps.

There no reprogramming involved with switching a battery, just make sure you don't cross negative and positive..

Thanks for the reply. My car is 5 years old and may need a battery in the future.

Yes, there is. The BMS must know the capacity and type of battery, otherwise the intelligent charging strategy will be wrong.
It can be done with ForScan, but I don't know the codes.

Mine is fine as well and I don't plan on replacing it until it dies but I was curious about the programming thing. I'm hoping that if and when it dies it will be in my garage or I'm parked on a hill so I can roll start the car but I'm not really worried about it to be honest.

I google it & I saw nothing that said the correct designated battery for our cars needed to be programmed.

The Odyssey is likely a good replacement, although not precisely the same size as OEM, it will fit without problems, as did the XS Power D4700 I used.

There is at least one thread in this site that makes clear the routine supposedly required upon putting in a new battery. I used Forscan according to those instructions on a previous car/battery upgrade to AGM. I must have found the codes on here somewhere. Otherwise it seems to be important to let the car sit for eight hours or more with everything turned off and the doors locked, after new-battery install.
