There are a lot of options for both out there so would like to hear from fellow car enthusiasts which ones you recommend spending your hard-earned money on?

VIOFO A119 or A229.

These are good quality Cams that won't break your budget. The shape and size fits well to mustang windshield. They also have the Sony STARVIS 2 chip (very good)

If you wanna go one notch down for cost. The RedTuger brand is fairly decent, and has good features. They claim on amazon to have a STARVIS 2 chip(50/50 if it actually does) never the less, it has good image quality at night, and does really well at capturing plates at 30 fps.

Parking monitor. Both have this feature. But in order for that to work you need to hardwire it to the car via a kit they sell (basic tap)

There are some other really good brands. But I've found these to be the best value.

make sure any cam you get can pick up street signs, and lic plates at night while moving.

Rear camera: I would recommend getting it with whatever camera you get.

I use the viofo mini 2 and use a mirror tap harness to run power. For radar detector I highly recommend the uniden r4. It's already paid for itself and has pretty damn good range and detection. Hopefully they release the laser jammer systems for it soon

Just bought a dashcam myself and went down the rabbit hole doing reserch. I also recommend the VIOFO (I bought the 229 Pro but the 119 is also supposed to be really good). Check out the dashcam review by Project Farm on youtube:

I also have the VIOFO A119 Mini 2 with the circular polarizing lens and the HK4 hardwire kit which I routed under the headliner, the a-pillar, and down to the fuse panel in the passenger footwell. It's a great dash camera and I've had no issues with it, nor have I had any issues with the 3 other VIOFO dash cameras I've installed in cars since 2020.

I've got 3 VIOFO cameras in 3 different vehicles. Basic, front facing in the Fusion and Edge and a front and rear in the convertible. I've been reasonably happy with all 3 although I haven't had to use the video footage yet. I do know that I won't buy a forward facing only camera again. Any future dashcams will be front and rear. I don't see a need for a camera on the interior just for personal use.

the interior camera can help see stuff happening outside to the side of the car. personally, i've always run front camera only and believe it's more than good enough. it will clearly show what your car was doing even if the collision or whatever happens behind you. of course having another camera in the back is nice. has anyone figured out how the stock rear camera works? ive been guessing its digital. would be cool to make an adapter which lets you use that footage.

I don't use a dash cam, but I can tell you that the Escort Max 360 Mk 2 has been fantastic. Incredible range and the direction indicators are super helpful. It's saved me so many times I can't even count.
