I have 2 R7's, and an older escort redline that is gathering dust.

Detectors have come a long way, and I run dedicated setups in every vehicle.

I hardwire them, and keep them high and tight, or hidden in the dashline. I'm tall, lol

Uniden R8 and Waze plus a Rabbit. Whenever those three elements are present my foot gets heavy. Waiting on an iOS app to work with it. Supposedly available already for Android. Regardless of what you get, direction arrows are worth the extra imo.

Hey guys I'm newish to the mustang world, had a fox back in the day. But what radar detectors are guys running now a days? I've been combing youtube, but really don't have the time to really diggin. Any good info will be greatly appreciated.
Cheers
V1 G2 on a Blendmount with a mirror tap. With the phone app you simply can’t beat this setup. Valentine One is made in USA to Mil Spec standards Mike Valentine designed the original Escort and Passport. Back in the day when Cincinnati Microwave was in business. In my opinion Mike Valentine makes the best.

Is the Uniden R8 still a preferred radar detector amongst M6G members?

It is, atleast for me. I run the r8 in my mustang and a r4 in my pickup. Great long range detectors. I only run ka band and laser here in kc.

I have the R8 and the R7 and both are working fine for me.

With the amount of radar coming from cars you need one that filters those signals out otherwise you become numb to the alerts. New Gen 2 Valentine on a recent 18 hour trip was ON point 99% of the time. Combined with Waze and you have a good setup.

This is a good point about the radars on the other cars.

Been using radars since the early 90's. After my last Escort died on me, I decided to go with the Radenso DS1. Range is as good as the top dog stuff. Doesn't have arrows, but I never needed one in the decades I've been using radars.

The DS1 with the Highway Radar app and the Saber plug-in is really nice on road trips.
