How are all of you going about placing a radar detector? I want to do the cleanest power install possible and I think that might be up near the rearview mirror and then feed off the power to the mirror. The 2019 GT does have a powered rearview mirror, right? Or what are some of the other options you all have used? I don't think it matters for terms of placement, but I've mostly settled on getting a Uniden R3

Should be able to power it off the mirror with a mirror tap and then get a blend mount to hang it from the mirror stalk. Probably as clean as you’ll get.

I have the same setup mejohn50 stated in my 17. It's a very clean setup, the blend mount is solid, it doesn't bounce around when I drive.

I use the R3 powered off the mirror using some cables I bought off Amazon. It works really well and sits just under my mirror.

Thanks for all the replies, I'm going to go ahead with that setup. I verified that I have a powered mirror this morning (first full day with the car, first time Mustang owner) and I'm going to start this mod this week. View media item 14661View media item 14662

+1. Same thing I did and it’s clean.

Does the Uniden R3 false alerts alot?
People seem to be split on this, but yes, my research into it says the false alerts happen. However, the R3 has GPS so you can exclude those "nuisance" spots in the future.

Reason 153 living in Virginia sucks. Radar detectors illegal.
I can't believe that this has never been successful challenged, it should have been gone 40 years ago. The Federal Communications Act of 1934 is pretty clear on the subject, Americans have the right to monitor any radio signal. All a radar detector does is monitor set frequencies and alert the user when those frequencies are in use, seems pretty simple to me.

Maybe I could have a leg to stand on if I took it to court for getting a ticket for having one?

I paid the high $45 price for the MirrorTap to mount my Valentine 1. Looking at the mirror from front of the vehicle, the most right wire is the positive, and the fourth one from the right is the negative. I used the 3M RF6730 velcro lock tape to mount the Valentine's mount. I basically took off the suction cups, drilled two holes on the sides to tie wrap a mounting plate velcro taped to window. It sits tight above the mirror, close to the center as not to interfere with passenger sun visor. The Mirrortap wire (10") was just the right length needed to connect. I can post pics later.
