The false alarms on a Valentine One is minimal. The new V1 with Laser and android sync is chosen by testers all over the net over a the Escort. Having to pay for the subscriptions every year to get the latest updates is BS. Then coming out with new models every year to make your old model obsolete is BS as well. If Valentine comes out with something new they will update your model it will never be obsolete.

But Hey... That's why we live in America where you can be you and choose what you like. My opinion and what works better for me is Valentine One.

The Escort Redline and passport Max allows for band segmentation so falses are minimal as well. The redline with new firmware update does not need to be tether to an app for band segmentation. Nonetheless both brands are great.

I agree both are really good. I don't mind the false positives. I can hit mute. I would rather it error on the side of caution. Valentine One's theory is that GPS and some of the filtering that is being used, is setting you up for a speeding ticket. First time there is a Cop in that area that is filtered out for normal false positives you're going to get busted. Technology is great and it is awesome to have a choice of two really good companies.

The problem with hiding it, and I am assuming you mean hide it while its on and not just if you are pulled over is that the detector works better if it can see through your windows. You are blocking its signal and capability if you tuck it away or put it too low in the car.

Also, if they save you once from a ticket they were worth the investment, but if the police does pull you over and see you have a radar detector, you think they will take it easy on you?

Exactly! And I've never been lucky enough to get a warning. Therefore, I'll just take my medicine if I get pulled over with it on my windshield. That being said, I have an Escort Redline that lets me know they are miles ahead gunning other cars. I don't really "speed," but if I'm traveling the same speed as a Ford Ranger, and we happen to be rolling at 5 mph above the limit, who do you think the cop is going to enjoy pulling over more? I look at it like this.. If they are going to play hide and seek in the bushes on the side of the road, my job is to seek, right? lol It takes two to play that game.

Directional Radar Detectors?

Any recommendation about radar detectors that indicate direction of radar?
I use an 'omni-direction' unit but find that sometimes it would be nice to know where the patrol car is.
Last summer, late at night, I was driving from Chicago to Minneapolis in my 2010 GT. My detector went off for a couple of beeps, so I set my cruise at the posted speed. After a couple of miles a car came up behind me so close that I couldn't see his headlights in my rear view mirror. He tailgated me for about five miles. It was very distracting especially since that part of the Freeway is known for deer crossings. Finally I had enough, I set my cruise to the minimum speed (45mph)...there were no other cars on the road except for him and I.
After another couple of miles, He gunned past me. It was a Wisconsin Highway Patrol car. He was trying to get me to exceed the speed limit. (Most people tend to speed up when someone tailgates them).
It would have been nice to have known that it was a patrol car coming up behind me.

Valentine One

I had a Valentine One back in my early 20s (my most reckless era of driving) and the thing was amazing. This is back in the early 2000's and they were really hot at the time. A buddy of mine had a top-of-the-line passport of the same generation and on road trips we would both be alerted to the same bogeys at around the same time. The difference was negligible. My V1 eventually got stolen (which would be another good reason to hide it from plain sight) and I now have a used Passport simply because the resale value is slightly lower than that of the V1.

What definitely gives the Valentine a plus is their product support. Program updates forever and lots of accessories to set your system up anyway you want. I had mine hardwired with the main unit up above the rearview mirror and a remote display mounted in the dash cluster.

I really like using the Blendmount for installing my radar detector in my G35 (outgoing car). Do any of you use the Blendmount on your 2015 Mustang, and if so which version, I don't have my Mustang yet so not sure what the review mirror looks like? If you haven't seen the Blendmount http://www.blendmount.com/index.html They also have great wires available to get power from the mirror instead of running a cord down to the cigarette lighter.

I have the blendmount that came out of my Optima - I beleive the sku is BBE-2000. I initially had the pigtail hard wire and switched to the smart cord and mounted the remote display/mute in the dash below the center display above the steering wheel. Then a small piece of black vinyl to cover the green power light and the only time you notice it is when the red light flashes.

Laser jammers are legal in MD, thats about all my options are limited to given I have (and frequently use) ACC. Jammer is too expensive and asking for trouble. Good instinct and visibility, thats about all that will save me.

definitely open to any radar detectors that can somehow function with ACC but I highly doubt that will happen

I agree totally... The first thing I do when the detector goes off, is start looking around wondering where they are or if there is some grocery store door setting it off. There is only one that does this and that is the Valentine One. Just purchased mine with the Android connect and I love it so far. Go to their site http://www.valentine1.com/ and watch some of the Demos and info about their detector. I like their approach way better than the passport.

Also, for a windshield mounted radar detector I'd recommend the Escort Max 2. I have one and love it. Had a Valentine 1 before but couldn't stand the false alerts from door openers now that I moved to a city.

For an custom installed unit with laser jammers, I'd recommend the Beltronics STiR+ in combination with Anti-Laser Priority laser jammers. Best two systems on the market for radar and laser protection. The radar unit is mounted in the front grill or behind the bumper cover. I has a display and control module that wires up inside the car. I've seen some displays even mounted into the rear-view mirror glass making a true stealthy install.

The Beltronics STiR+ is undetectable by RDDs. Same goes for the windshield mounted Escort Redline and custom installed 9500ci.

Thanks for the link... I think I need one! They don't show one for the 2015. I wonder if it is the same for the 2012? Hmmmm... I sent them an email to inquire.

Let us know what they say. Should be able to match up the style of mirror with one of there products. I don't have my car yet, but wouldn't mind making sure I have the correct one before the car arrives. The one I have in my outgoing car works great.
