Honestly, you’d need to open up the holes in the hood as well. If not, you’re still venting the same amount of air out of the hood no matter the size of the vents.

Yes that’s what I’m saying. Open holes in hood and make vent grill removable.

Got it, thought you were just talking about opening the vents only.

I think it would help a little. Not to the extent something like a GT500 vent or the race louvers or trackspec vents would where the cutouts are much larger. But, more hot air out is more hot air out

If you look at videos where people put the smoke wand in front of these cars, the existing holes definitely pull air so they are in a good location. I also have no real clue if it would help but based on this it seems promising. I’m going to try to fit the drip tray so it is removable as well for street driving.

I remember having a vents on my old EB 'vert, that and tons of supporting mods, it wasn't tremendous but made a bit of difference

Gotta double check, but believe that's trufiber.

Any little bit helps, especially when sitting in traffic

One thing to watch out for is the driver's side hole usually sits directly above your air filter. If you have an open element, you may also want to ensure it is one with a cover so the first rain doesn't soak your air filter.

The aerodynamics of radiator airflow is kind of facinating.

Anyway, my guess is opening up the hood vent grills would help, even though the air gaps around the exhaust manifolds and transmission tunnels are huge by conparison anyway. Those side hood vents really are in a good spot.

This was my testing for fun with yarn. The side vents were the big winners.

I didn’t want to cut the whole section out so I step drilled holes to maintain strength. I modified the plastic top cover and hood insulation.

@NightmareMoon your video makes me wonder if just the side vents are adequate for track days, and skipping the big center vent.

Interesting also is how the yarn in front of the windshield folds forward, leading credence to the claim that the high pressure zone there would render removing the rear hood edge gasket ineffective.

Following back up on this because I just got a spare set of hood vents to play with.

There is 0 doubt in my mind this will create a substantial air evacuation effect from the engine bay. I drove through a thick fog the other day and you could actually see fog coming out of the hood vents as is.

Further, the ford performance bullit grill has lowered my IATs by about 50%. Went from anywhere from 12-20 degrees above ambient to 4-7 degreees. With these vents open it should be even better.

Edit: should have said IAT increase over ambient
