Hey guys, I'm designing a hood for a Mustang.

What do you all prefer or like better?

Hood vents or hood scoops?

One interpretation of what a really great design is when function is made into a beautiful form; example the new Ford GT shape due to aero requirements. If the scoop or vent is not functional than it doesn't matter.

This is what every scoop looks like to me:

As the devils advocate, (I have a ram air scoop and vents) I would say the priority is function over form- on the scoops it better be functional drawing air into the intake or venting hot air towards the rear and also not impair driver visibility, and on scoops and vents it should be designed to channel the inevitable precipitation (At least in the northwest where rain is more common than sun) away from electrical components and the air filter. A couple hoods I have seen in the Evo community that were functional actually came with covers that snapped on from the underside to prevent water intake during the winter months, thought that was an awesome idea. Another idea it would be nice to see since so many after market hoods require hood pins at speed, why not have a pre-drilled option?

Just my two cents

Would like to see the 2018's vents given a more shallow/flush treatment similar to the GT350's single vent.

Same. Those split hood scoops particularly look like pig snouts to me. Just not my cup of tea.

I like the scoop on the Mach 1 rendering in the Mach 1 thread.
The Blue car from England.

I have looked for a scoop I like and may purchase a complete hood to get the one I want.

I don't want a fiber or composite hood, though...........:headbang:

If you can do a 350 hood that’s an actual replica I think it would be a huge hit

Vents. Unless it's functional like a Viper, but even then... Vents. I just saw a Demon and I guess it's hood scoop is functional but it's not very efficient so I feel it's lame compared to the Viper.
How about hood vents with integrated turn signals? :D
That would be ingenuous!

Why? Why redesign something that wasn't broken? The speedometer and tach, that you only see a part of would be something that needs redesigning. A digital speed in the center of the gauges. A fix for the driveline vibration that some have. There's probably some other things that need redesigning, the hood would be my last.

I prefer vents however, those NASCA hood scoops (Mach 1) were awesome.

Hood scoops are stupid and usually horrible for aerodynamics. I only like them when they have some functionality, like cooling the TMIC on a WRX. Even then, I would prefer to have vents and move to a FMIC for aero.
