Not sure what you mean by fake but they are functional. If you’re looking for more heat extraction, check out racelouvers. Most of the aftermarket replacements use the existing holes in the hoods which aren’t overly large but they do work. Racelouvers is a good option for the track but they do require cutting the hood

Just installed the AirDeisgn matte black hood vents. Here are my before and after photos. Easy to install for the most part. Does not actually increase any air flow other than the fact that you remove the under hood plastic retainer that may make a tiny bit of difference. All about looks. No modifications to the vehicle at all that can't be changed back. I ordered the vents from Levittown Ford but you can also go direct to AirDesign since they make the parts for Ford. I've seen some people who buy the vents and then have them painted to match their hood.

I like these. Does water go through the oem vents? Seems like these would catch more rain than the oem...

The hood vents are functional. You can change the appearance like shown above but it won't really change the functionality of the hood vents.

Roush has some side vents that go above the front wheels. But this will require cutting into the metal as well.

Not without cutting at least. There are some vents (I forget exactly what brand) that look very similar to OEM but have much larger openings. You can then cut out the hood to match the vented area and that would make it somewhat functional.
