Oil canister conversiony

I will promise you that a filter that has an o-ring that was lubricated in oil and then torq'd to the 18in/lbs will NOT spin off on you. But if either of those two conditions aren't met, there's a good chance of it. I have a track only car with a spin-on and I have a hell of a time getting it loose every oil change.

The correct torque spec is 18 FT/LBS not Inch pounds !!, typo I am sure.

I probably didn't torque it right. Time to buy a new torque wrench for cyber Monday. I still using 1992 beam torque wrench.

I have changed my oil twice and I have a spin on filter. For my peace of mind I take a sharpie and mark the 6 o’clock position on the top of the filter after mounting which can be viewed through the drivers front wheel between the rotor and the barrel. I check it every couple of weeks to make sure my filter hasn’t moved. My filter has not budged.

Just buy a form a funnel they are cheap and work well with spin on filter.

The form a funnel works perfectly with the cartridge too. I can drain the filter and install a new one without spilling a drop of oil, all from the wheel well - don't need to open the filter port in the belly pan at all. By contrast, I had the dealer do the first change and they spilled oil everywhere. Took me much longer to clean up the mess than it would have to change the filter myself.
