I would bet at minumum the bypass valve is not set for what pressure the voodoo engine runs at.

Probably would be open most of the time.

There has to be something different internally - either with the actual pleating or pleat count or something with the drain back valve (or whatever it's called).

Are the threads the same too?
Yes. It is identical. The drain back valve (rubber flap) is the same. Threads, internals (from what I can see without cutting it open) are the same.

The bypass valve is not in the filter. That’s part of the oil system.

Who’s going to be the 1st to use it?

That is the 20k question, I imagine that the filter we use will not go away for a long time. If it does I imagine I would be able to convert to the cartridge style.

After I bought my car I looked around for a cartridge adapter kit, mainly just out of curiosity. It seems that kit M-6881-52CA is no longer available 🤷‍♂️

I’ll have sold the car long before I ever have to worry about it, I actually listed it for sale and have someone chatting with me about it. Will probably have him come on here if he pulls the trigger.

There's one in the filter and there's been one in every automotive spin on style filter I've ever seen and taken apart.

Very nice video. Thanks for posting.
interesting take on the bypass function inside the filter. Wonder if we can get him to cut the other one for comparison.

There was a recall/CSB for oil leaks from the older style system, but I think it only applied to 2017’s. One of our club members had this fixed in his car and they used that kit to change the filter mount.
I checked into it but my guy said it didn’t apply to 2016’s and buying that kit was too costly.

I would bet on the surface the construction looks the same. Maybe a different media but the spring for the bypass would be stronger.

Summit lists the bypass pressure for the 910s at just over 14psi which is on the low end for filters. Wild ass guess that at anything above cruising in a 5.2 that this filter would be open most of the time.

Ok, so I'm a veteran at this, I still have my 2016 and I've pretty much seen it all.

First, even if the FL910 fits, YOU SHOULD NEVER USE IT. Simple, really. The FL2069ST is manufactured with red thread locker on the threads and that's why it doesn't come off if it's properly torqued. The FL910 doesn't have thread locker and there's no reason to believe it will stay on even if it's torqued to the FL2069ST torque spec.

Second, the oil leak recall was because the oil cooler lines were defective on some of the 2016 and early 2017 cars. The crimps that held the lines together were wrong and the line could part under pressure. Mine were replaced under the recall.

it’s easy to add thread locker, not that I would.
There were two separate issues with the oil system. The first was the line replacement due to the incorrect crimps. The second was for a leaking oil pressure fitting area. For the latter item, they replaced the whole unit with the cartridge style mount. However, it only applied to 2017’s.

Hence my comments about a limited customer set for the 2069ST filter. I would guess that once the current stocks are depleted, they may not make any more.
I have about 1/2 dozen of them, should last me a while.

I don’t know, I really like it but it’s pretty intense and hard on me to drive it more than an hour or so. Cool show car though with all the mods.
