Hi all,

I would like to complete my oil engine level wich is actually a little bit low.

I know that Ford recommand a 5W50 oil but it’s very rare and hard to find this kind of oil in France.

is there any problem if I use temporally a 5W30 oil engine ?

I’m going to order 5W50 but I don’t want to wait and prefer to use 1 litre before.

maybe the topic has Been already made but I haven’t found it.

thanks a lot

Vince...My first question is just how low is it? If it's no more than a quart (litre) low, you are OK waiting on your order. I am personally not a fan of mixing oils, especially weight. Is it detrimental? No. But something I will avoid.

I wouldn't worry about the oil level being a little low. Is it still between the low and high level marks? Also have you checked the level just after an oil change and established where the full mark is. On both of my Shelby's the full level just after an oil change has been right at the high level mark, others on this site have suggested making sure for each vehicle where the full level is.
I would only add a non recommended oil weight in an emergency to get home.
Best of luck.

If you need to top up your oil level, see if you can find a 5w40 oil or even 0w40, rather than 5w30. Up to a quart added to your 10 quart sump won't make much of a difference, but get back to 5w50 as quickly as you can.

Also, if the oil level is still above the lower hole in the dipstick, your engine is still "full" as far as Ford is concerned, so don't rush to get it to the top. Just keep it above the lower hole.

Thank you guys for your answers.

the oil level was under the low mark so I was afraid to wait anymore.

I’ve been surprised of it I’ll check the level 1 month ago and it was between the high and low...

I added 1 litre of 5W30 oil this afternoon my mechanic told me that there was no problem if I respect the « winter » number (5)

when I’ll receive the 5W50 oil I’ll complete with it.
but I prefere to keep the level between the 2 marks...the mistake is hard of conséquences !

Thanks again

5W50 is available but only on 5 or 6 business days order.
In shop there’s only 5W20, 5W30 available immediatly.
5W30 is recommand for porsche engine (but I don’t know what’s about GT3, GT2,...)
