But you put A/S tires on the back. If you want sticktion to the road, go back to Max Performance Summer tires, all the way 'round. If you put the Continental DWS Sport on the front, you'll have even more understeer.
This is true. Grippier tires vs. longer lasting tires. It’s a tough balance.

Well...the car in OEM tires off the lot had some oversteer. The rear would kick out often, which was fun, but not good for traction. The Conti tires, even though they are A/S tires, have a TON more grip. So I would disagree with you. Maybe pilot sport 4s would be the most traction, but I'm in ATL and we have a few months of cold. You're not suppose to drive on those tires under 40 degrees.

They've gotten soooo much better though.

I remember the OEM Pirelli MPS tires on my 2012 Brembo Pack Mustang GT. They were insanely horrible, and lasted all of 8K miles or so.

Now, the Pilot Sport 4Ss last X2 that, work much better in the cold, and ride & grip a lot better. And I hear the Conti Sport 02s are just as good, if not a bit better.

I guess I was just trying to see if understeer was common, even in the performance pack for these cars. Definitely found her limit this morning. Still better than my last tank of a car (2016 SCAT Charger).
Understeer is baked in from Ford. Understeer is more predictable than oversteer for the average driver. Get rid of the Pirelli's, get an alignment with a bit more camber up front, and consider the Track Pack handling kit. M-FR3A-M8A

It's fine. I DD my car all year long up here in Virginia. Including 0 degree days. You just drive like a sane person when it's cold, and it's fine with the Michelins or Contis.

The Pirellis, OTOH, are just hockey pucks below 60 degrees. Horrible.

Trust me, there's a whole new world of tires out there.

ETA: Seriously.....I hate Pirellis tires. Just garbage.

Agreed. I run the PS4S on my daily. They’re great all around. I’ll just say the tire has not yet been made that can be all things to all people/cars.

No Cup 2s that work in 0 degree weather just as well as 80 degree weather, and in rain and snow, and last 30K miles????

That doesn't exist yet? 😂 🤣

If it does, you can’t get it in your size. 😎

My 2016 PP stock PZero’s were absolutely scary tires under certain conditions. I wonder how many crashes were caused by those things……Now, looks like 2024 is all Pirellis.

Again. It's driver induced. Know the limits, no problem. My car is set up pretty neutral. Fastest way around a corner is to have the front/rear slide a bit. IMO. Hence why I went from 325 rears to 285. Much faster car now in the twisties.

This is your issue. rear tires gripping much more than the fronts will allow it to push on even more as the rear cannot slip. Upgrade the fronts.
Also have the alignment checked to make sure things are still set up correctly.

Yup, 100% agree with that.

I'm siding with driver error. OP, take your car to a track event or autox, and drive it at its limit. Get an instructor to ride with you. I suspect, based on a very limited explanation of what happened, you tried to brake and turn at the same time. But not like HARD brake, more of a slight brake, and then the sliding starting.

Knowing how your car is going to react before it happens is a lifesaver. Threshold braking vs ABS is wildly different stopping distances. How to get weight on the front wheels to stop understeering like a snowplow. How much throttle you can apply and and what rate to apply more throttle.

This ^^ but having grippier tires in the rear vs less in the front is a recipe for understeer :like:
