I'm pretty sure you don't get any of the "Track Apps" options until you get up to the GT performance pack.
Things like:

Acceleration Timer
0-30MPH
0-60MPH
0-100MPH
0-1/8Mile
0-1/4Mile
Brake Performance
60-0MPH
100-0MPH
Line Lock
Launch Control

None of this means anything to someone just driving their Mustang to work and back, but if you join your local SCCA like I did and have opportunities to get your S550 on the track, you will appreciate them.
Pushed her to 147 MPH last weekend - Legally!!!
Of course you do.

I wish Ford had a DCT like the E92 M3's have. I would've checked that $3,000 option box so fast, it would've been quicker than a DCT shift:lol:
DCT woulda been beastly.

I have a GT premium auto and it has track apps as standard but no line lock. Just put my left on the brake.

Track apps are standard on every 2015 GT that rolled off the line.

Thanks for the comments and insight, everyone. Helps put things into perspective. I'm still leaning toward the auto and the upgrade with aftermarket parts option.

The extra gauges feel more like a vanity option and less functional.

Curious on the oversized radiator -- what's everyone's take on its usefulness? Reason I ask is I hang out in the desert fairly often.

I live in the desert..these motor's run hot anyway..figured extra capacity can't hurt anything whatsoever.

I never considered an auto. MT was the only way to go for me. I got the PP mostly for the brakes and the Torsen diff. The suspension and cooling upgrades are nice to have too.

Will I ever "need" the PP upgrades? Who knows, and I don't care. I wanted them. :)

Several above have noted the 4-piston brakes are really good. I agree. They were the GT500 brakes in 2010, right?
They were the brakes for the '13/'14 GT500.

Well, I dont wanna be wrong, but I'm pretty sure every S550 has the Track Apps, from Base V6 to Premium GT PP...

You'd be missing the discounted bundled package from what I can see.

You can come close with aftermarket but I doubt all of what the PP brings at that price point.

I live in L. A. and spent nearly 30 years, yes I'm older, commuting through downtown L. A. and later the 405 from L. A. to the SF Valley every day in rush hour. I loved every minute of it. Stop and Go is a bore in anything and not being comfortable with a Manual tranny would add to the discomfort.

Whether holding the gear and blowing her out a little on the on ramp or downshifting to slow down on the off ramp or when coming up to a sea of red stop lights ahead on the fwy, it always brought a smile for me.

Downshifting how and when I wanted in nearly every curve almost regardless of speed was a joy and brought a smile. I've never had that smile with an automatic, ever and yes even in stop and go in L.A. Tradeoffs in everything I suspect.

My 2 test drives in GT PP started and ended with a grin. There are reasons that lots of High Performance fans still shout give me my MT. I've actually heard Porsche is bringing them back because of demand.

It took me a month to find my Red 1990 Acura Legend LS coupe with a manual I drove for 13 years daily.

We might be a dying breed but then again so are fire breathing V8s.

I chose the auto with 355 and all the options i could put in the car. . Rides sweet even without the PP. I added a k member brace & full strut tower brace. A manual in city driving , these days is a pain for me............

Autos are fastah :headbang:   :clap2:
In a roll-on they look to be very very close. From a dig, the auto will probably get the jump unless the driver of the manual is a drag racer with crazy superman skills for launching.

Yes, a roll takes the advantage away from the auto. Getting the car off the line is the best thing going with the 6R80s. The main thing is they take the driver error factor out of the race.

Yes, and that is not a PP car so no 3.73's. All of the 0-60 or 0-whatever tested times involve 1st gear which is very low in the auto. The gearing with the manual and 3.73's is lower in every other gear.

Not that I care about a tenth in a straight line. I love manuals and after driving several (an auto with 3.55's, a PP and a non-PP 3.31 stick) the PP car just feels much more solidly planted, just more like a proper sports car.

The auto is a wonderful alternative if you like autos, and the stock suspension makes a nice "touring" type car.

So everybody buy what you like and realize the other guy did, too. :amen:
