Ford can probably get by with a 20 to 30 H.P. bump so that the H.P spec will equal or just exceed the 6.2L Camaro. Ford is vastly outselling the Camaro so they are not needing to 'reinvent' the wheel in the near future. Most Mustang sales are with the modest engine powertrains and not the GT. Meanwhile, Camaro sales, even with the big 6.2L engine, have CRATERED. Here are the facts:

I've always said that if Ford comes out with only a 20 HP bump I will be really disappointed. Higher compression, Dual Direct port injection, New 5.0 engine only carry over is the crank. Ford would be crazy if they put all that effort into a 20 HP only increase. I always said 475-500. Draw your own conclusions !

 ;) :ford:

Would you still be disappointed If along with the 20hp/30 lbft of torque came an ET reduction via a 10 speed auto with new converter, or reductions from the new 6 speed with new clutch?

Y'all seem to be getting caught up purely in hp numbers.

My GT PP with the 20" Foundry wheels and large tires have real trouble hooking up (stick). I must feather the clutch at about 3,500 RPMs until I feel solid road connection before I can unleash it. More torque and add in a 10 sp w/ torque converter will necessitate much larger tire patch area. Tires cost cost w/ tax close to $300 each and I for one am not interested in seeing them go up in stinking smoke. I am not Richard Rawlings with a TV budget.

Why does your PP GT have 20" foundry wheels? Did you swap from the 19" that come on the PP?

Did not like the busy entangled look of the factory 19" PP wheels at all. Really like the bold sculpted, clean, dynamic design of the 20" Foundry wheels. The Ford dealer cut me a deal on the Foundry wheels at delivery. The 20" wheels make all the difference in the aggressive look and stance of the GT.

All this speculation, and I'm just sitting here wondering if SYNC will work like it's supposed to.

As far as packaging goes I like that location for the DI injectors. That area mostly goes unused anyway(Boss/CJ intake guys know this for sure) so that is a lot better than where I imagined they would go being right on the top of the heads.

Well there goes the "turbos in the valley" rumors that...ahem..someone was throwing around for the GT500.

It's the difference of knowing not reading.
Your experience with DI ecoboost engines? I ran a '12 SHO for 4.5 years (tuned by Livernois for 93 octane) with no issues. Yes I did a BG fuel system cleaning once, no problem with knock. No problem with power fade, no problems period.

Hop over to www.ecoboostperformanceforum.com and ask around, not many issues with DI engines based on that community.

Not entirely. If the heads were reversed for the hot-v turbos then it would stand to reason the DI injector placement would be reversed as well.

I'm going to test drive both the auto and manual. If one impresses me enough, I'll trade my 16.

If they end up upgrading the oil pump gears and transmission then I may end up trading in my 2017 (that I literally just got). With the cost of a the Magnum swap and the cost and pain in the ass of swapping oil pump gears and a harmonic balancer it maybe cheaper in the log run lol. Well wait... How much are the 2018's going to cost for the first year they are out? I paid 27k new for my 2017.

Don't expect the oil pump gears to be made from billet like the aftermarket offerings.

Why would they upgrade the OPG. How many have failed on stock cars... Shit. There really aren't even that many that have failed on modified cars.
