2015 5.0L Coyote Engine Changes

It's been stated repeatedly that nothing on this car was carried over (save some bolts and things of that nature). That would lead me to believe that the pistons will be different than the ones the 11-14's have.

Different can mean a lot of different things, though.

The rods, crank, camshafts, valves, and valvesprings were picked from the Boss 302 engine.

I thought the cams were closer to CJ spec, not b302?

edit: sorry cj intake boss exhaust.
Plus larger valves then either cj or b302.
If true, the cmcv's start to make more sense.

That's not the engines or transmissions part-for-part. Or an 8.8" ring gear.

Emissions and torque, according to various press releases - to wit...

"Another trick was to include charge motion control valves (CMCV) to the intake manifold. With better breathing at high rpm, low-end torque can be adversely affected. By adding CMCV, the airflow is partially closed off, thereby increasing the charge rate to help boost low-rpm performance. Also manipulating the airflow is a variable cam timing mechanism with increased range of adjustment due to the addition of mid-lock phasers on the intake side."

My take is they want the high end power of the boss 302 motor without the low end torque loss, and obviously they made some gains.
