Just curious. Do you think the warped rotors were due to track use? If so, how much track use would it generally take to warp them and thus any concerns on how many "aggressive" miles a relatively low mileage older GT350 was driven?

That color is hot!

Now take her to a proper race track and have some fun with it.

It doesnt appear to be from track use. It has very minimal road rash that would be consistent with track use. Actually just a couple of minor rock chips was it. It is in nicer shape than the 5k mile R model I used to own. I have a 5 year 75k MaxCare warranty that they offered. It covers pretty much everything and I can take it to any Ford dealer if I choose. It could be from aggressive street driving but not sure. The front brakes however are fine. The car overall is in like new condition with 12k miles. But if anything catastrophic were to happen, I'm covered. Another thing I look for in these cars which may or may not mean anything is what the tailpipes look like. This car was filthy dirty when I saw it, brake dust was heavy on the wheels and calipers like they werent cleaned in years. But the tailpipes were clean.
There was no staining or soot that will collect if they are burning lots of oil. Also as the engine was warming up I raised the rpm to just above 2k and let it fall and listen for any piston slap. I couldnt hear anything like that with this car.

Congrats on the purchase! I see you mentioned the 90 day warranty but did they give you an extended warranty option? Might warrant some consideration if they did.

Thanks! Yes, I did opt for the 5 year 75k Maxcare warranty. Covers pretty much everything and I can take it to a Ford dealer if I want.

What a great car - congratulations!

Rear rotor issue could just be from using handbrake after some spirited driving (i.e. on hot rotors). Sounds like you got a great car.

Hello everyone. Just wanted to share my experience buying one of these cars from CarMax. Normally I would never consider a car like this from a used car dealer but they had a really cool spec car that I really liked. After running a Carfax it was a 3 owner car. The first owner had it for over 4 years and put 3800 miles on it. The next 2 owned for about a year each with a subsequent 9k miles total from both. They had it listed for 58.9k which I thought was kinda high and I had to transfer it from a Texas store to my local store. That was 400 bucks. So if I decided not to buy it I'd be out that money. It took them about 4 days to deliver it to my store. Upon inspection it was obviously really dirty from the open transport carrier but no visible damage. The test drive revealed the rear rotors were warped and needed replaced. When I returned from the test drive I mentioned to the sales lady that it needed rear pads and rotors and I wanted that in writing that they would take care of it. I also told her that I preferably wanted to do the repair myself. She got approval from a manager and gave me a repair order signed and said take care of the repair and we'll reimburse you. The car was also missing the owners manual packet and I also wanted to change the oil and air filter. So I took the car home and ordered the parts from a Ford dealership I used to work at and still get employee cost on parts. Also found a complete owners manual on eBay for 190 bucks.
Fast forward to today and we've received the owners manual, and I completed the rear brakes and changed the oil and air filter along with getting 50 bucks of 91 octane gas. We went down to CarMax with our receipts and they took care of everything no questions asked! Couldn't believe they let me do my own repairs as I really didn't want the car in their possession for that job. The total for everything was 1500 bucks!
I don't have much experience with CarMax but this was a fantastic experience. The car is in excellent condition inside and out! A couple of very tiny rock chips is all I had to touch up. And you get piece of mind with their 10 day money back guarantee and 90 day warranty. I absolutely love this car and should bring many years of smiles!

Congrats on the car, stunning color. I hunted on Carmax for about two months mainly because their warranty is a nice benefit before I ended up buying one privately. Was able to get a Granger Ford warranty so it all worked out. Enjoy the car 😊

you should throw some matte black stripes on that car. 🤤
All GT350’s should have stripes. Any owner of said car who disagrees, should immediately turn in their GT350’s to me.

I RARELY see that color on any variety of Mustang. Maybe a couple of EB per year, forget about GT350's. Although it's not my favorite hue, the rarity of it makes it more attractive in my book.

I'd love the opportunity to drive one someday.

So, I'd say it's a pretty special ride! Exclusively has value both sentimentality and sometimes in resale. Best of luck and enjoy !
