I have done Shiftech H and X on my 350R, then Borla catback (awesome!) and now Hooker Blackheart 3" catback (perfection!). Just make sure you go 2.75" or even 3". The Shifteck 2.5" midpipes cause a sort of strange resonance that some people have described as a "plastic bag in the wind" noise...
That's really interesting all the way around, Harry. Thank you for all of your encouragement and help for me and so many other Boss and GT350 enthusiasts!
I love the fact that my GT350R doesn't say Shelby anywhere on it . . . the name or brand means pretty much zero to me. Heck, Boss 302 is a way cooler name in my book (says me, a 2 time Boss 302 owner).
Wait until you get to drive your 350R hard . . . they get sharper and more precise feeling the harder you drive. It will surprise you. Plus, you get the best exhaust note ever combined with one of the nicest shift actions and great seats.
I've driven my zero option 2020 350R across half the country and back. Taken it to work, to the grocery store, wherever. I did put some 20" alloy wheels with GT500-spec tires and have the CF wheels sitting in the garage. It very rarely scrapes. I have not driven a 'regular' GT350 but I would...
Congratulations! You have great taste in cars! Curious to see how your M2 CS compares to the Shelby. I think I already know (and it's going to mean the BMW collects dust).
I got lucky with the Hooker (doesn't that sound terrible!?!) - they discontinued the exhaust and were selling them extra cheap last spring. I got the non-valved one for 850 bucks shipped. Full 3" 304 stainless and very nicely made. A few lbs lighter than the 2.75" Borla on my scale, too.
OP - sorry you went through all of that and aren't happy with the sound. I have toyed with the idea of getting headers on my car but the sound (volume and quality) was always my biggest concern.
For people who think the OE GT350R exhaust is the best sounding, wait until you hear one with the...
OP - that does not seem normal. Your car should feel very locked down through hard cornering once you have heat in the tires.
In saying that, these cars feel a lot different than a car with a mid or rear engine. I would get it up on a lift and check everything to make sure nothing is loose...
Tire Rack has the specs as they measure the tires in terms of section width and tread width.
Some of us run 20" wheels on our 350Rs. I am running the GT500 spec PS4S tires on custom wheels (20x11 ET24, 20x11.5 ET61) and with the 305s up front, I get slight rub at full lock (running 2.2...
I am so glad you got to experience the Ring that way! And what a great video! For someone like him, who gets to drive everything up to McLarens and such, to really enjoy your car is a huge compliment to our cars.
There are plenty of people running the OE sized GT350 tires (295/35/19 front, 305/35/19 rear) on their 350R wheels (or aftermarket R spec wheels). You don't want to go with anything taller than that because you definitely will start encountering rubbing of the plastic inner fenders when you...
