Hello everyone. Just wanted to share my experience buying one of these cars from CarMax. Normally I would never consider a car like this from a used car dealer but they had a really cool spec car that I really liked. After running a Carfax it was a 3 owner car. The first owner had it for over 4 years and put 3800 miles on it. The next 2 owned for about a year each with a subsequent 9k miles total from both. They had it listed for 58.9k which I thought was kinda high and I had to transfer it from a Texas store to my local store. That was 400 bucks. So if I decided not to buy it I'd be out that money. It took them about 4 days to deliver it to my store. Upon inspection it was obviously really dirty from the open transport carrier but no visible damage. The test drive revealed the rear rotors were warped and needed replaced. When I returned from the test drive I mentioned to the sales lady that it needed rear pads and rotors and I wanted that in writing that they would take care of it. I also told her that I preferably wanted to do the repair myself. She got approval from a manager and gave me a repair order signed and said take care of the repair and we'll reimburse you. The car was also missing the owners manual packet and I also wanted to change the oil and air filter. So I took the car home and ordered the parts from a Ford dealership I used to work at and still get employee cost on parts. Also found a complete owners manual on eBay for 190 bucks.
Fast forward to today and we've received the owners manual, and I completed the rear brakes and changed the oil and air filter along with getting 50 bucks of 91 octane gas. We went down to CarMax with our receipts and they took care of everything no questions asked! Couldn't believe they let me do my own repairs as I really didn't want the car in their possession for that job. The total for everything was 1500 bucks!
I don't have much experience with CarMax but this was a fantastic experience. The car is in excellent condition inside and out! A couple of very tiny rock chips is all I had to touch up. And you get piece of mind with their 10 day money back guarantee and 90 day warranty. I absolutely love this car and should bring many years of smiles!
