for the convertible , i assume for the rear you still place the jacks on the axle between the braces

Looked in manual for jack points and it's just a pic of the underside with arrows pointing to the general area. Where are the safe jack points on these s550s?
The answer is in this thread. There is a picture showing the jack points, front and rear, plus spots for the jack stands.

As the others have stated, get a good set of jacking rails. It will save you the headache.

Jacking rails can be a problem, as I found out. MAKE SURE THE FLOOR-JACK WHEELS ROLL AS YOU JACK THE CAR UP. (I have a smooth garage floor, but a piece of debris apparently chocked the wheels, and the jack geometry forces pulled the jack pad from the jacking rails.) As a result, I ended up with the side skirt, rocker panel cover, and jack pad up into my door.☹

Thankfully, a friend that works at a body shop that was able to get all the repairs done for only $450. Very, very fortunate!

Anyway, I will continue to use the floor jack with my jacking rails, but I'm a bit wiser about being aware of unwanted movements, or lack of them when jacking.

Has anyone been able to jack the car up from the front (or rear) in one shot? I know I can lift the entire side of the car in one shot, but I would like to be able to go from either ends and jack it up once and get the entire end off the ground. I used to do that when I had an SRA Foxbody where I would jack it from the diff and the whole rear end went up, but I heard you're not supposed to do that with the IRS diff.

I was also looking at these cross beams that would help balance the car, but not sure if there's any where on our cars specifically to use something like this.

I use my 3 ton daytona low profile jack on either those circled parts from the side of the car, it lifts way higher than my pittsburgh 1.5 ton so I'm able to do it in 1 go. Keep in mind I do have the BMR 2 point subframe brace connecting those 2 circled areas so it might be making it stiff enough so that the other side of the car comes up more.

Owners manual will show it. Vest advice is to invest in some full length jacking rails. Then the jacking points are anywhere along the side you want them to be.
WTF are 'jacking rails'? could you elaborate as to what these are?

No worries! I highly recommend these over the Steeda’s as the Steeda ones are known the have corrosion issues.
I just ordered a couple jack pads, do you think that's sufficient for occasional wheel changes and whatnot? I'm not sure how I would install these jack rails anyway. I suppose I could have the muffler shop do it when I have them put the resonator back on (it currently has an X-pipe and I find it to be too loud).

I think that should be just fine. I’m just so OCD that I don’t want paint chipped on my pinch welds, which is why I got them. They’re very easy to install, use stock bolts in stock locations under the car. Where are you located? We could probably find a shop to do it. PM me if you’d like.

Jack pads are more than sufficient for tire changes. The only thing is, they add thickness and sometimes the ride height of the car can make it a tight fit to get the jack in there. Jacking rails add very little to the clearance and allow easy access to position the jack anywhere you want. Rotating the tires is super easy. Position the jack to lift the entire side and swap front to rear.
Install is very easy. It’s a bolt on each end of each rail. I did mine in the garage with the car on jack stands. I think it took about an hour just taking my time. Someone with a lift should be able to do it in 15 minutes tops.
