Old guy here (mid 60's) and my first post. We've owned over 40 vehicles over the years. Never a Mustang, though my wife and I had a 73 Camaro when we were in college, and we also had a C4 Corvette. Our most recent sports cars were a 2005 Porsche Boxster, which we replaced with a 2006 911 Carrera coupe, both purchased used. I had always wanted a 911, and when I turned 60, I bought one. It was a terrific car, but where we live (Bismarck, ND) service for Porsche is a challenge, and expensive. I sold the 911 earlier this year and started looking for something to replace it. I wanted another stick shift, and that turned out to be a challenge. A Ford dealer is literally across the street from my office, and I walked over there one day in June and they had a beautiful Magnetic 2017 GT coupe with the performance package and 6 speed stick. The price was right, and after two test drives, I decided to buy it. We have put about 2500 miles on it so far, including a 1700 mile round trip to Michigan.
Likes: performance, shifter, color, styling, good luggage space and fairly usable back seat, warranty and ease of service, relatively simple normally aspirated V8 motor and rwd layout, comfortable front seats (heated and cooled) good dash with easy to use interface.
Dislikes: lack of cool outside air from the dash vents (I don't use the a/c around town), the build quality, materials, and ergonomics are clearly a step or two below Porsche or similar cars (though quite adequate for the price), and I wish the back seat had an inch or two more headroom, because we do try to use it from time to time.
Another plus for the Mustang is that it was assembled in our home state of Michigan (I'm a native of Detroit).
All in all, we love our new GT.
Thanks for reading.
