With 12 to 1 compression. I use 93. To use less certainly won't help HP.

93 gives those knock sensors less reasons to kick in.

If I was doing commuter miles with the high price of gas, no problem running 87.

I ran 87 in '15 F150 with the 5.0. for 50k and no issue. I'm sure my Mustang is tuned a little different. I run 89 in my Ram right now. It gets 1 mpg better with 89 versus 87. It's a mental thing for me since the gas mileage is so pitiful. Driving my mustang is going to feel like a Hybrid this spring.

What about using octane booster and 87
Depends on what octane booster is used, they are not all created equally. But what would be the point of that (unless you get stuck somewhere and the only gas available is 87)?

I am afraid to try now. I got the Performance Pack 2 for my 2015 gt and they even put a sticker on the gas door saying 91+. I have not tried to use regular since then.

Well now you're in a different ballgame with the tune. You got one specifically for 91+ octane, so it's definitely not recommended to run 87.

The real question is why would anyone run regular in the first place? You knew the deal when you bought the car. Sure, gas is high right now but it goes up and down. I’d buy a beater for a DD before I’d put regular in mine.

Not recommended in hot weather though.
Not according to Ford.

Exactly. Bone stock, no problem. But even bone stock, a lot of you's like to floor it in 4th from 1800 rpm. I know this, cause of the F150 manifold thread Haha.

I had an 18 GT premium before purchasing my Mach 1. Put 40000 miles on it, all on 87 octane. No issues using name brand gas, like Chevron, Shell, or Sunoco. Running the Mach 1 on 87 octane also. Now, if I was tracking it, I probably would change the grade a bit.

Filling up with 87 @current price in my neck of the woods is $106.14 91 is $117.73. $11.59 difference. Not enough to worry about.

I get valve rattle on mine with anything less than 91. I'd love to be able to run 87 in it, but this car just doesn't like it. I didn't see any performance difference between the two, but could definitely hear the valves voicing their disapproval.

That's detonation inside the cylinders. Real bad for the motor.

I have been running my 2019 GT on Shell Nitro 93 since I got it. I’m asking people who use regular gas how your car runs on it. With the price of gas l’m thinking of switching. Gas prices are getting out of hand.
been running 87 in my 17 gt ever since i bought , no issues 24 mpg hwy 19 in town. plenty of power.

I have a '21 base GT and it came with 1/2 tank of 87 octane in it. I've been using 91/94 octane since, and I absolutely refuse to use anything less than 91. As others have said, price difference is minimal, just not worth the downgrade.

When gas prices were reasonable, I always ran 93. Since the war and steep uptick in prices been running 87. I don't notice any difference, but I'm rarely on the roads with no one in front of me. I'm sure, if dyno'ed, it would be down on power, but my butt dyno tells me it's fine.
