"You MUST use 93 Octane because the Ecoboost is a turbo?!?" My user manual says 87 octane...93 octane for max HP and Torque.

Ecobeast doesn't have to run 93 octane, it just doesn't get as much hp with regular.

I wouldn't on an Ecoboost it needs 93 for the turbo.

The Ecoboost loses 11% of its HP by using 87- down to 275hp.

At that point mine as well just buy the base V6 Mustang that uses 87 and gets 300hp; and costs a lot less for the car. You lose all benefits of the turbo on the Mustang that puts it above the cheaper V6 model.

Also remember the mpg ratings on the Ecoboost is based on premium too.

By contrast the GT only loses 1% HP by using 87, so a whopping 4.35hp off of 435. I run 87 in my GT just fine. 430.5hp is still plenty.

Your wrong about 1% FYI

Here are two links to shut ever one up. They are for the coyote motor not the new 2015 but the 2011+ coyote I can not find anything in the 2015. but it's the same conspect of power lose and hoping the ecu and knocks sensor catch the caca gas and stop the knock and rob power from you. . You lose about 2.5% horse power or 11 horsepower and 3.3% torque or 13 torque on 87 caca gas. For a few bucks more a tank. I'll take the increase.

~280 miles per tank, mixed city and highway driving during my daily commute. I generally romp on it quite a bit though. If I'd just get up to the speed limit, put it in 6th gear and set the cruise control it'd be a lot higher.

Haha. I think most S550 owner's commutes are going to be around about the same mileage. Its just too tempting isn't it?

With my EB I get on my 50 mile round trip suburban commute (no highway with 7 traffic lights with 1/2 hit green) I get 28-29 mpg. I have somewhere on the order of 320-340 miles on the trip computer when I fill and the miles to empty at the fill is in the 50 to 60 range. The miles to empty is almost always over 400 when I fill.

When I get more agressive with my driving the mileage will drop to approx. 25 mpg.

A few other observations;
I came from a Focus ST. There was ZERO difference in mileage between 87 and 93 octane. I have only run a couple of tanks of 87 through the EB and have noticed no difference in mileage compared to 93.
The difference in power between 87 and 93 in the Focus was barely noticeable but is quite dramatic with the EB. The EB really falls on its face above 5000 rpm on 87.
The EB is now tuned and there has been no drop in mileage.

I expect the mileage on the EB to be over 30 on my commute once the weather warms and they switch back to summer blend gas.

Whoops, didn't look at his location. Ny is not a good place to live(in my opinion, but its all for work there). I think the only vehicle you should have in NY is a push bike.
Dude, really? Ever been here?

I put almost 500 miles on my EB the first day. We live in EHT NJ, drove to Milford DE to pick it up drove to Flemington NJ to see our daughter then drove back home. So much more comfortable than my S197. I do miss those GT500 mufflers though.

Right now I'm averaging around 18 mpg with mostly city driving and "fun driving".

When I fill up I get around 250-270 miles of range.

When I drive all highway, I've seen the range go up to 330 miles in a tank.

I forget, something like 320-350 miles range with my GT. Not that I actually drive that far. I usually fill up at 1/4 tank or so.

This is my first trip of any distance. Mind you there were a number of stoplights hence the reason my average speed is so low. Was running near 70 most of the time.

EB PP Manual. The terrain is fairly hilly around here.
Details; I reset the trip computer before pulling away from the pump. I did not wait till I was up to speed to do that.

I have an auto GT with 3.55 gears, with 5,600 miles so far. I probably drive 75-80% freeway overall. I usually see 300-350 miles between fill-ups

about a 1/8 mile to line up, a 1/4 mile, a 1/8 mile to slow and turn, about a 1/4 mile back to pit area so 1 mile each run.
