This is full WOT launching at 4k and shifting at like 7k, does this shifting seem good lol. Will the MGW make it faster/cleaner?

Should I be starting to give gas before my foot is fully off the clutch or will that roast the clutch
Dont lift your right foot off the carpet, it's called powershifting.

My Mustang is only an V6 and an automatic. My other car is a V6 manual. I don't know what it's like to no-lift-sift a higher horsepower, rear wheel drive car. I assume it's much easier to break loose the tires. So, not sure how it will work.

My technique is to start shifting out of gear as your foot starts pressing the clutch pedal. By the time my foot hits the floor I have shifted into the next gear. Hand and foot, both in one quick motion. Start and end at the same time. It takes practice to get the timing down, and eventually it feels natural. Obviously, the chance to miss shift gets much higher.

Here is a video comparing my shifting with a Ferrari's auto trans(it was the first video I found, not implying my car or myself are better than a Ferrari).

Here's an alternative philosophy. . .

Make the question, "How do I shift smoother?" instead.

This was one of the hallmarks of race driver Jackie Stewart. Whether it was a race car or a street car, he knew the feel of that drivetrain. He knew how it was cold, and after it warmed up. He knew how to nail the rev-matched downshift. He knew that, depending on the drivetrain, upshift times would vary depending on how warmed up the car was, the road conditions, and the vehicle's handling limits.

This all can apply whether it is the street or the track.

Smoother was faster for Jackie Stewart. It's the goal I reach for with the pedals, shifter, and steering.

JMHO. Your mileage may vary.

IMO that's the perfect shift speed for these transmissions, everything will stay happy for a long time. You CAN shift faster, but....
I never was a fan of top loader transmissions........

Rev hang sucks ass too.

Yeah, I remember hearing about the Muncie M22 Rock Crusher. That’s what we need in today’s cars.
I had a 74 trans am 455 super Duty caR with m22 in
Shifting all the time without lifting
Sometimes without using the clutch.rare car only made 300 of them

I always wondered why so many people posted with terrible MT82 stories here, figured either I got lucky twice or the SROD and T5 variants scarred me for life and I just had low standards. But after reading some people's responses I think I understand now, some of y'all just can't be trusted with a manual transmission!

Powershifting into a new MT82 lol

joking aside, Although fun I rather not power shift with a MT82 (I had one). You can still shift really fast without powershifting if you time it right. Heck I don't even powershift with Tremec.

Why lift off the gas just stab the pedal and bang that next gear. Been doing this in every manual car I own. Not for everyone but if you got the balls and willingness to win you can do it

Has anyone considered installing a clutch pedal stop to help facilitate quicker shifts? I just purchased one a couple of days ago and will be installing it soon. It’s not a direct bolt on, as it’s for a 2005-2009 Mustang, so it will require a little creativity. The end goal is to reduce excess pedal travel and hopefully create quicker shifts.

Late to chime in here. My two cents: It looks like you are letting off the gas before the clutch fully releases the flywheel which is visible by the forward jerking. I would try to hold the gas a tad longer or engage the clutch faster, try to go no lower than 1/2 throttle while changing the gears. I try to keep the engine sound in a linear ascent as I accelerate. Each car and driver is different and unique. Practice and some component of luck is involved for one to find the most ideal way to launch before possibly breaking something. Hard accelerations ages a car so I gave up on aggressively finding my car's sweet spot. I figure I will run into it eventually. Best of luck.

Learn how far you need to push the pedal and save your money. As the clutch wears the pedal push will change.
Late to chime in here.
The factory tunes have rev hang. It is the worst thing ever invented. My Son learned how to drive a Toyota manual. He can shift a mustang or a Toyota smooth but not fast. When he gets into my SS Nova he cannot shift smooth or fast.

My muscle memory and I cannot shift a modern car.
