So I traded my 2017 V6 with 3.55 gears for a 2017 GT PP with 3.73s. Both 6speed.

Because my mind still thinking about the 3.55s I have hit the limiter doing second gear pulls with my new GT.

Thankfully didn’t break anything but I need to be careful. Does the Lund tune raise the limiter? I know mpt did it with my V6 to 7.5k

I also have the 6spd mt with the same gears, not going to lie i hit the limiter a few times, not for more than a sec or two. I was trying to keep in my that I have stock oil pump gears so I got a bit worried. Just try to be mindful of throttle and keep an eye on the tachometer. Everything should be good though. Might want to check with the tuner on the rev limit, if you have stock oil pump gears, you might not want to bang the limiter too hard for too long.

7800 for every Lund tune I've loaded in the last few years. At least thats where they told me they set it at. I've taken it to 8k with out hitting it multiple times. I'm guessing the tack reads high but I haven't logged a run I rev'd that high yet. I hit my limiter a few times early on stock but not once tuned.

i doubt you would break a stock car with occasionly hitting fuel-cutoff.
Ford once said they built in a 500rpm "safety margin" into the coyote (although that was Gen1 or 2) for people miss shifts and over-reving the engine.

OPG would probably be a insurance if you plan to ramp and park it at 8000ish rpm.

No big deal. Just try to not do it often. It’ll only cause problems if you do it all the time

Isn't the rev limiter supposed to avoid engine damage? That's precisely its raison d'etre. Why should it cause any damage when it does the one job that it's supposed to do?
LMAO…. So the rev limiter is more or less a “warning” to let the idiot behind the wheel know - HEY, keep it up and you’re chancing ventilating the block….

A rev limiter in any vehicle doesn’t prevent or avoid any engine damages if the idiot behind the wheel (of any vehicle) wants to keep tempting fate….

Htting the rev limiter by accident is one thing - continually and purposefully hitting it multiple times can not only shatter OPG’s, but there is the chance of cracking the crank sprocket… which will also lead to engine failure.

The rev limiter is supposed to prevent the damage incurred by revving the engine past a safe threshold. Of course, an idiot can damage the engine in many other ways, which the rev limiter can't prevent. But that's not the point.
The point it, you know the engine is going to be in trouble if it revs past a certain threshold. So, you devise a mechanism that doesn't allow it to do that. Marvellous. So far, so good. But this mechanism will damage the engine on its own. Like: "we won't let you break the engine by overrevving it, but we'll do something that breaks it anyway if you even try". That doesn't make much sense, does it?

The shockwaves / harmonics caused by the engine being on the limiter are cited as contributing to the degradation and potential ultimate failiure of the oil pump gears and crank sprocket.

It’s an accumulative effect and likely due to the design, manufacturing techniques and materials those components are made from :like:

without a limiter you'd lunch it on first pull (cause you didn't shift til it blew). OP needs to learn to shift gear sooner, or buy an automatic. Simples

And who the blazes looks at their speedo for when to change gear instead the equally sized rev counter on the other side of the display? If for some reason one does hit the rev limiter, it shouldn't take a second or two to realise what the stuttering is before changing gear.
