It's proper to do it at home if you have the tools. cheaper & quicker in the long run if you go back and forth often. also gives you the ability to actually tune your alignment for the tires/track/conditions etc. The average alignment shop has zero clue about what makes a car fast on track, they will put it within a range of spec, make all the lights go green and send you on your way.
