Welp good news and bad news (mostly bad news).

We got the engine in, drive shaft in, and ARH exhaust system installed. When we started the beast, it ran fine for about a minute and then when I applied a small amount of throttle and it fell on its face (sputtering, almost died, etc.) and then threw a p0025 code (B" Camshaft Position - Timing Over-Retarded (Bank 2)).

When we were assembling, we had a bit of a problem with one of the cam phasers and I had to take it apart. Guess what camshaft is throwing the code? Yep - same one.

At the moment, we're planning to order a new phaser. While we wait, we'll do a cylinder leak down test/compression test (to verify valve train and cylinder health) and then begin tear down. Anyone have any additional thoughts/recommendations?

On the the brightside, it sounded fucking savage for about a minute :)
Bummer Kevin! Hopefully the new phaser will solve the problem...

I'm hoping so. That minute or so before the rough idle kicked, she sounded like an absolute beast. Can't wait

Don’t expect to much of a HP gain. My guess is it’ll be in the 530-540 rwhp range.
Most of what he built is for durability.

The long tubes, tune and if he runs higher octane (not sure what fuel he’ll be running) will provide the most hp gains over the mild head port / chamber clean up. These voodoo heads are already oem cnc ported.
Which is still good power though. That's Lamborghini Huracan territory.

But yes, as I've said before, me personally I'd have a hard time with just doing heads without camshafts as well.

Cylinders passed the leakdown test and boro scope shows nothing weird. So looks like the timing is good.

Got the front engine cover off to inspect the phasers physically, and they look good. So do the lash adjusters, followers and cams. So thinking it must be internal to that one exhaust cam phaser we messed with (lesson learned). Ordered the full M-6004-A50R kit from LMR and they're supposed to get here Wed/Thurs.

After taking this stuff apart again, I kind-of-sort-of-might-understand-why-people-like-LS-motors. But shhh, didn't hear it from me :)

Parts shipped - will be here tomorrow. Hopefully we'll be back up and running tomorrow or Thursday morning!

On the bright side, at least I am tripping over fewer parts in the garage :)

Here's a quick sneak peak at the savagery. Computer/phone speakers really don't do the bark/tone of this engine and exhaust justice. All (3) of us jumped when it fired the first time. Awhhh yess
