Hi Everyone, OK so I have read that the major issues with that were solved in 2019 and 2020 because they use the same steering knuckle / steering rack as the GT500. If that's the case, can I fix the issue by swapping out the the steering components on my 2017 for those in a 2019/2020?

Any wide track tire is going to tramline on streets/roads. Some worse than others. Anything over 275/35 up front will have some tramlining depending on road surface. Some of the quills running a track car on roads often.

There was a discussion of this some time back but after a couple members drove both back to back and said there wasn't a significant difference it was deemed too much of an effort for too little a change. If it really bothers you that much even after checking alignment then as mentioned a switch to ps4s's might be considered.

Two things - first, the GT500 knuckle is only on the 2020 GT350R. The non-R GT350's are all the same from 2015 to 2020. That change was made to improve the GT350R handling at the limit on race tracks, and I haven't seen any evidence that it "fixed" tramlining. It might have changed it, but the internet is not alive with stories of big improvements.

Second, you can actually reduce tramlining by getting a precision four-wheel alignment. It makes a big difference, or at least it did for me. Another, more effective option is to switch tires. Switching tires can eliminate it, albeit at the cost of reduced grip and handling.

Thanks, looks like I have a decision to make, as much about tires as alignment

On the front??????? No wonder.
I run 315s and 325s on the front. Tramlining with my street tires (PS4S) and a proper alignment isn't an issue. It was dramatically worse with 295-width SC2s and stock alignment.

I have a PP2 and they have 305/30/19 Cup 2's on all 4 corners. Tramlining was pretty bad but I had gotten used to it. I went through 2 sets and this last time I got tires I switched to Continental Extreme Contacts to get more life out of the tires instead of shelling out 2k+ every year for the Cup 2's just for street driving. My tramlining is completely gone, but the car kind of feels like a shell of what it once was. With the Cup 2's it was a monster and the car could take anything you threw at it with ease and confidence, and it was consistent and predictable. The Continentals are great don't get me wrong, and they're a lot better in the rain, but the car feels tamed now and a little squishy if that makes any sense. I think when the Continentals are done for I'm gonna switch back to Cup 2's.

Makes complete sense, I'm going to try the Steeda brace and keep the car on the cup 2's and aligned the way it is now. Maybe that will help, it's not an expensive part so if it works money well spent.

As everyone has said. Ditch the cup 2s. Ps4, super sports or continentals.. something better for the street. My PP2 as mentioned above had the cup 2s and it was night and day how much nice it was for DD with an actual street tire of the same size.
