Any car with big rubber up front will tramline. The problem gets even worse if you have a bunch of negative camber.

YOu're going to get some tramlining unless you go with some shoddy all season tire and you're still going to get a bit here and there. Perks of having a tire that's 11.6" wide up front.
Section width of the PSS that the 350 wears actually has a 10.0" contact patch up front, 10.7" in the rear. The R's Cup 2's have an 11.0" contact patch up front and an 11.7" out back. These are from tire racks exact measurements, which is interesting!

Ahh yes, I got the designation mixed up. The measurements I quoted however are for the actual width that contacts the road. I found it interesting that for tires are only supposed to be "10 mm" wider from 350 to R, the contact patch actually increases by a full inch (25.4mm).

Apparently the 350's PSS tires are tuned to deliver better wet performance and daily drive ability similar to AMG's PSS spec tires, whereas others like Porsche and the Corvettes for example actually use a more aggressive and sticker compound that's also wider.

The 285 section rear PSS ZP tires on my fathers Stingray actually have a tread width of 11.2", making them actually slightly wider than the 305 Cup 2's on the front of my R!

I believe you are right. I am interested to see the difference between the new PS4 and the PSS.

For sure, I'm eager to read the comparison as well. I imagine it'll be an incremental change and nothing drastic in terms of feel or ultimate performance, but they were already leading the pack with the PSS anyhow.

I'm heavily debating changing to the PS4S once my Cup 2's run their course, but I'm a little anxious of the fact that they don't make a 315/30, and with the 325/30 having a "square" sidewall, it'll only pronounce the "tires outside the fender" look even more than it does now on the R's wheels.

Hoping they come out with some more fitments by this time next year!

So check this out! Below is the same size PSS made for three cars. SL is what the 350 wears. These are the tread width listed as measured on a 10.5" rim. Interesting how there is such a difference in tread width.

295/35ZR19
(100Y) SL 10"
(104Y) XL MO Mercedes 10.3"
(104Y) XL Star BMW 11.1"

Now I am curious as to what the psi used for each car when measured or if there is an actual wider tread with no load?

Yeah some of the differences in widths are very interesting. Just helps reveal what the priority was when the OEM requested a specific tire developed for XYZ car

I don't think the pressure would have all that much to do with the measurements they provide. Unless you're talking either severely under inflated or highly over inflated, these performance tires today are designed to retain their shape very well. The tires with X sizing but lower width values just means the tires are more rounded at the edges and not "square" in nature, favouring a more daily and inclement weather friendly tire at the expense of performance.

+1 for the Steeda G-Brace. I had tramlining issues with the 6GR wheels and stock tires. Put the G-brace on and it is almost completely gone. Best 80$ I've spent so far on the 350.

Weird, I haven't noticed a significant decrease in tramlining after I put the G trac brace on. I've learned to live with it. Keeps me more engaged with the road.

Yeah, weird ;)

Certain conditions make repeating tramline experiences difficult drive-after-drive. I've done nothing to my car and sometimes it feels less "trammy" (I'm loving my new word, lol) for no apparent reason, over the exact same roads.

- Tire pressure
- Tire temperature (different all day and throughout your driving session)
- The actual line in the road that you follow (same road, 1 inch over, different results)
- Different drive modes

and plenty more will deliver different experiences every time.

I keep reading about tramming so I keep crossing paving lines in the road at different speeds, even uneven highway when they are repaving. You can feel it but no drastic pulling as others mention. Also use different power steering settings. My problem is country roads where out edge has sunk. Any kind of speed on those roads just throws you around in the cab.

^^ Tires make a huge difference. PSC2 on the R probably 50% increased.

Don't see many R drivers with an arm up on the door sill or arm rest, lol - two hands required!
