Guys, this is a good discussion!! Cost was my prime motivator for ESS...but I'd probably rather have a Whipple/VMP. When I called a local shop, they quoted 12k for the Loki system install/tune. Odin was 15k. I figured that install was a bit more involved vs. a centi system. Thoughts?

Centri install is going to take a few hours less, for sure.

It all comes down to what you want to spend (centri will usually be a couple thousand less), and what powerband you want to end up with. They're both fun, just different.

If you're doing a higher end build (25psi built motor fuel system blah blah blah) that $2,000 might not even matter to you. But if you're putting something together for under $10,000 it will be a much bigger piece of the pie.

With a Whipple or Roush kit, for about $200 in software you can do some cool stuff like this that can mimic the centrif torque curve....and in about 20 seconds put it back to a PD blower torque curve.

Another cool thing with the same software, torque by gear if that floats your boat:

Mainly just the Roush has this issue....and they really missed the boat on this.

If I would have known this, I would have probably gone PD.

the odin cost 10k so that shop is charging 5k in labor? I put it in by my self in a weekend working a few hours at a time and the hardest part was lifting it by my self.

Pardon my ignorance, but don't the transmission, drivetrain, cooling systems, fuel system, etc. need to also be upgraded to handle the extra hp? Are people installing these systems without any other mods, or do the kits contain everything that's needed to safely use the hp without breaking the rest of the car?

The car itself is capable of 6-700 hp with minor suspension and driveline mods.

If you still want your car to handle well, the ESS kit being the lightest of all the blower options would be the standout choice.
That was my original choice then I started thinking Whipple and the rabbit hole just keeps getting deeper and deeper

thanks. what suspension and driveline mods specifically?
It all depends on your end goals, but once ,cry once. That is where I currently am, trying to figure out my end goals so I can plan accordingly. Currently the car has a cradle lockout kit, and a Barton trans mounted shifter.

My goal is getting the ESS G2 kit installed. I'm not going to install it myself so that's going to cost. I live near Steeda so I'm thinking about going with them for the install and tune. And then I have to consider the other mods, so I figure this could easily be at 15$-20$K if all done at once. Since I'm not going to track the car, I'm thinking that I might be able to get away with just installing the ESS and then considering other mods later.

With a centrifugal at 6-700 and an a10 probably just a stop the hop kit or similar, maybe half shafts if you're really concerned.
Looks like the Steeda stop the hop ultimate kit is about $1200, so that's not bad.

Agreed, or they are just adding unneeded options, I am easily $8k not including fuel system for my ESS G3, and did everything myself except tune. The little things the ESS does not include really add up.
How are you at $8k already for a G3 system and that’s not including a fuel system? I had everything I needed for $6800, before I went with a fuel system and e85

Depends what car and how you drive it. I still have the OEM exhaust (minus resonator delete), stock OPG, stock driveshaft, stock clutch, etc etc.

Mine should be pretty close to 900whp, haven’t had any issues yet. I’m sure the A10 is a different story, if that’s what you have.

Well the base kit is 5800, and a tune + device is $1200, that's already above your number with no injectors and no BAP
