Well, I'm starting this as my first post, after my recent return to the Mustang world. ;)

I picked up a used 2019 GT last week (low miles, killer deal) - and something i've noticed that i'm doing repeatedly, I'm hitting the ebrake with my knee, which then causes the car to freak out that the brake is on.

I've searched, and have seen a few posts about the pre 2018's having an issue with the cable being too short, but nothing I can find about the 18+.

Can I tighten the handle down, or is there something else I could do?

Thanks in advance!

I'm 6'0", and my knee doesn't ever come anywhere near the emergency brake, as far as I can remember. Are you on either end of the height spectrum, by chance? Is the seat at either extreme of travel, forward or back? I do gas and brake with mostly ankle movement, so I admit I'm not bending at the knee all that much while driving. (Well, the clutch leg is a different story, but it doesn't look like you're in a location to have an RHD car. :-) )

Edit: here's a thread that shows how to make the adjustment to take up cable play:
https://www.mustang6g.com/forums/threads/how-to-adjust-your-parking-brake.25204

And another that talks about the difficulties of getting at the adjuster under the exhaust "suitcase" - scroll down past the Steeda install:

I'm 6'4, and don't think I have it all the way back. I do have it all the way down tho.

I don't think it's so much my knee as it is just my leg. lol

I have that prob w/ my schween, but not my knee... you think Ford will address it with the S650 when they get the JD Power Survey back and see my response to interior items?

Mine does the same thing.

I'm 6'3" and my thigh/knee will occasionally rub the lever and engage the ebrake enough that the light comes on. It's really annoying how loose that damn thing is.

On mine it has nothing to do with my knee. The handle just tries to live right on the edge of the switch. Sometimes if I don't hold the lever down with my elbow it will turn the light on and freak out.

I keep meaning to try to adjust it, but haven't gotten around to it yet.

Wow...ease up on the man-spreading and you will be okay :)

(At 6'3" 250lbs I do not have this problem in a '16 GT w/manual trans)
Same here. 6'3" 260, 19 GT, manual trans. Not a problem. Don't have the seat all the way back, and I don't even know the brake handle is there when I'm driving.

Same problem, more so when I'm wearing a coat, definitely a puffy or thicker one. There is 0 resistance for like the first 1/2-1 inch of travel in the handle and the sensor is in that range so it triggers. Simply a heavier handle would likely help prevent it.

Must be a 2019 MY problem. My lever is firm when down. I'm a big Stang fan at 6'2" 300lbs. Seat is all the way back, and all the way down but the front edge is slightly elevated. In fact, sometimes I have a large beverage cup that won't fit in the holder so I sometimes put it between my right leg and the console.

Interesting, I maybe if its just a matter of adjusting it then. I can defiantly lift mine up to the first click with 0 effort with my pinky finger.

Yep, mine as well. I don't realize it's happened until the christmas lights on the dash start going crazy that the brake is on.

My car does the same thing.. it has to be in just the "right" position or else the warning comes on....
