Hello, I am switching over to a square tire setup from a staggered setup. My car is a 2020 Mustang Gt PP1 (also has magneride). I’m looking at Costco and they offer the:
285/30ZR19/XL or 285/30ZR19
285/40ZR19/XL or 285/40ZR19

Can anyone weigh in on what they recommend for a daily driver with occasional spurts of speeding?

The standard easy button is 285/35R19. Tons of tires in this size. I wouldn't go up or down in terms of profile.

I personally wouldn't go square because you still can't rotate tires. Unless you are getting new wheels too.
Yep, unless you're changing wheels, the rears are wider than the fronts... ;)

I'll be switching the 285/35R19 square on my 19x9.5" RTR wheels
Going to Continental DW sports... I like them better than PS4S
Also they are non-directional for rotation

I guess I made the assumption that OP was considering new wheels if he was moving to a square 285 setup. Whoops.

As others have said, there's no point to going square unless you also change the wheels. For me, 19x10 wheels (+35 offset) with 275/40 tires is ideal. My car is also PP1 w/ magneride, and the 275/40 is the stock rear tire size. 285/35 has a smaller diameter, so unless you're also lowering the car you'll have a larger gap between the tire and wheel opening, and the 40 profile also gives you a more comfortable ride than a 30 or 35. FWIW - I like spirited driving on mountain and canyon roads, and this wheel & tire combo works very well. Of course, the right (or wrong) tires are very important if handling is a priority.

I have 295/35/19 super sports on the front of my pp1 with 10” rims and it’s perfect. The supersports run a little narrower than other tires through, probably equivalent to a 290 section tire really.

Agree with others, if you’re not switching to a square wheel setup, it doesn’t matter that you switch to square tires as the wheels will prohibit you from doing a full rotation.

285/35r19 or even 295/35r19 is a good setup for a 19x10 square wheel setup. Can also do 275/40r19 which is the stock size for the rears on a PP1.

285/40r19 is not a common size (there are some options but not a ton) whereas the 285/35, 295/35 and 275/40 are pretty common and you’ll have a good amount of manufacturers to choose from.

Lots of selection with 275/40's and 285/35's with similar pricing. The 295/35's and 305/35's have less selection and are quite a bit more pricy. The 285/35's are a good bit shorter than the 275/40's though so you will see more fender gap.
I am currently running a square set of 285/35's on SVE 19x10 square set up. Going back to 275's on next set though.

I think the diameter difference between the 285/35 26.9 “and 275/40 27.7”
Split that difference in half and that’s the additional finder gap
Wouldn’t the additional width moving the tire out a little offset that fender gap:
Here’s my current setup with 275/40 19” DWS’s squared.

Thank you all for this information and wow. Never knew it was more deep than that. Honestly thought I was able to do a square setup with the original wheels the 2020 mustang Gt premium pp1 came with.

Time to look at new wheels. Staggered wheels preventing you from rotating 400 dollar tires is madness in my eyes.

Correct. You need about 35 offset to rotate
