The lid will not come drilled. You would be better off finding a white decklid in a junkyard somewhere and then drilling as opposed to buying a new unpainted lid and then having to drill your own holes and then get it painted.

Best in your efforts!
Why would the Ford diagram at the dealer I went to show three different part #s for the deck lid, one with no spoiler, said holes need to be drilled, second one for base spoiler third one for large wing, no notation for holes needing to be drilled on the last two?

I have never heard of a decklid that is predrilled for any wing. If they were, why would they custom drill our CFTP decklids (and do a horrible job i might add) at flat rock?

I hope you are right, but any time anyone ordered a decklid to add a wing (GT350R), they had to drill it themselves.

Below is an image (thanks @Big John ) that shows our CFTP decklids hand drilled and not primed and painted holes.

I will have the body shop who will do the work drill before painting. Looks like a three yr old drilled those holes What a shame for a 100k car!

I agree. My previous post was intended to help, I would be shocked if the hoods come pre-drilled. My CFTP is in the body shop having the holes addressed and other paint defects and fit/finish concerns corrected now.

Is it possible that the CFTP rear deck lid has more reinforcements to withstand the 550 pounds of downforce in the corners...?

Thanks Tom, has anyone not had some sort of paint issue, I have had lots of exotic cars and have never had paint issues or body fit problems like I have had with both the 17 gt350 and the 20 gt500. Who does the final inspection on these cars, he or she should be fired!!

Early on, there was a lot of the same complaints with the GT350s. The answer was that the Mustangs do not get any special attention pertaining to fit/finish. I believe the Lincolns do, but not Mustangs (yes, GT350, GT500s are just mustangs) do not.

There is a thing called VIP audit. You have to know someone, be a celeb, or the car has to be a show car to be scrutinized by QC types who go over everything (paint and fit/finish). I was fortunate to have had a few of my cars get the process. They were flawless. The ones that I have that have not, well, are not. My CFTP is in the shop right now because your average line worker just doesn't care.

Tim,

I am not sure. I can look on the parts website to see if there is a difference between our lids and any other mustang lid.

At a Daytona track event a few years back, there was a guy who bent his deck lid using the same GT4 wing, this was a FP350S.

If you decided to use a carbon fiber deck lid, Anderson composites says that reinforcement is necessary or the carbon fiber will crack.

Mine did not look like this at all. The holes were much cleaner and no marks in the paint.

I hope my shop finds the same, but this isn't one instance. Others have reported the same. I asked my shop to leave the wing and mounts off the car for the completion of my Xpel.

From what I have been told, the CFTP cars are the only spoiler/wing cars that require drilling after production, they come down the assembly line with a plain trunk lid just like all the other Mustangs without spoilers or wings.

From what I can see, none of these products are exactly the same as OEM. Some have different mounts which require drilling into a new trunk lid. Some require the end plates to be screwed in. Some have different shaped aerofoils. And there's always the question about quality of the carbon. The usual questions with all aftermarket carbon is will is yellow after a few months, or days, and will the gel coat fade, get hazy, or crack and peel off within a few weeks.

I also noticed that these companies are using photo's of the OEM wing to sell their aftermarket products. You can tell because when you look at the other photo's the parts and fitment look different. So, ultimately you don't know what you're getting un til it arrives through your door.

Of course you consider all of this with price differential (which is considerable), but I also have a warranty with the OEM one.

Well, that's the trade off with a $75K+ Mustang (let alone a $100K+) vs. the price equivalent product, from even a, call it, "sub-exotic" like Porsche. The latter has an order of magnitude more attention to detail from build to QC/QA to delivery.

Now given, at the same price point, the GT500 will [probably] wipe the floor with Porsche in nearly any performance metric.

A friend has a reasonably new Cayman S, and the fit and finish are spectacular, has all sorts of beautiful carbon components, the leather is super high quality, stitching uniform, things like the carpet is finished even where it's not visible. Of course, it was like $70-something-K, and only 350HP, but no doubt it's a blast to drive (that said, I'd take the GT500).

(Funny enough his other car is a Challenger SRT ...)
