That SUX! I wonder if the oil change was the issue? As in they did not put enough oil in the car and it finally caught up with the engine????

Not that it matters really, but did you dad drive the car like I drive mine? Like I am on a race track every time I get in the car after it warms up to temp of course then it's paddle shifting, high RPM, late and hard braking, and mashing the gas.

As far as was what to do, I have no experience on the subject to offer an opinion.
Who knows, I'm waiting for him to check his service records

No, it's his weekend car, a few "spirited" pulls and drives here and there, but never tracked or driven like it was on a track

I would be surprised if they used the standard mustang oil change as the basis for this car. I am sure even the newest service tech knows that standard mustangs are different from GT350, let alone a GT500. It was also mentioned that they have a "Shelby" tech, which leads me to believe he's been around more than a day. I would be willing to bet the oil was changed properly, as will show on the receipt like @Epiphany has mentioned.

My money is on another valve keeper failure.

He is talking about the electronic exhaust valves behind the mufflers, not the exhaust valves in the heads.

That's my bet, but the guy he's in contact with mentioned "it could be the timing chain". No clue if they're waiting on the field rep from Ford to come out before further insepction

Thank you for clarifying that

Depending on state laws it could be a candidate for lemoning out of its over 30 days.

He could order another one with the exact options and do a clean swap but that would most likely knock out the summer driving season.

Just sucks.
CA lemon law is 30 days. Not sure how the process would be with ordering another one. Believe car is paid in full, plus full PPF, not sure if it would make sense. Need to wait and see. Calling FP in the morning to try and open a claim

FWIW 09, I'm with Jaime and an errant valve. Seems to me there would have been obvious indiciations of low oil levels well before this happened if insufficient oil was the case. A thousand miles is a lot of RPM's. Timing chain? Maybe if it was faulty from the getgo but otherwise, unlikely me thinks.

MEGA BUMMER for your Pops though, amigo, we'll have lots of good thoughts for him and the car.

Thanks KB. I am with the valve too, especially since it was upon start up. But we'll see what they find.

Calling FP in the morning to open a case for him

Once the service department entered your VIN into OASIS, it is on record with Ford. There wouldn't be a field rep from Ford coming out, if Ford wasn't already aware of the problem.

No need to get a zone rep involved when trying to get extended warranty and other? That was the process I saw on the 350 engine failures

Did you check the oil level on the dipstick after the oil change?
