Again, went out to put the car on the lift to check the gearbox bolts and once again, she wouldn't start. It dawned on me that the battery saver would have kicked in and killed the ignition after it timed out so it probably isn't the battery although it's fully charged now.

Tried the backup FOB, no joy, but the regular fob still indicated it knows me as the dash lights and display powered up.

I looked for any sign of rodents, didn't see anything and I have rat bait in the garage.

Looked up fuses and relays, found #30 and #81 relay, both ignition or starter related. Swapped #30 with #28 and #81 relay with #80. No help.

But before I call a wrecker, I thought maybe one of you might have an eye deer.

How about pulling the battery and replacing it with one you have laying around with the same terminal posts?

Edit to add, you have a battery tender always on that vehicle, right?

Another edit, hook up a memory saver so your DCT learning doesn't have to start over.

No, I haven't yet rigged up a battery tender, Tom. But, I've charged the battery and unless it has failed which I doubt, I don't think it's lack of juice. I don't want to yank out a battery from another vehicle and not even sure I have one that would fit but I'd rather just go buy a new battery and try that. Just thought I'd post the issue and see what ya'll thought before I do that.

Spoke to my buddy in Service and he didn't think it was the battery either. He said, have it towed to the store and gave me 800-241-FORD. Anyone ever used that?

Verify the terminals on the battery are tight as well as the large feeder terminals on your fuse block, on the right side of the vehicles engine bay (your left if you are looking at it with the hood open.

So you press the start button and it all goes dark? Or what?

When pressing the engine button with your foot on the pedal is there any ticking? Also how long has it been sitting? I know my car had to get the battery replaced at the yard because it went from the trip from the plant to MO yard.

I like to disassemble things.
Jumpstart it from a running car.

Where is Rosanne Rosanna Danna when you need her, right? (Miss your humor, Gilda...)

Anyway, to quote her,

NEVERmind.

Operator error.

Should have put two and two together but I didn't. Remember the PeePee bracket story and the difficulty trying to photograph it? Well, smarty pants couldn't get the phone in to a position for a photo because of...the plunger assembly on the front of the brake pedal.

See where I'm going? :-)

Smarty pants disconnected that plunger assembly, took the photo, and promptly forgot to reconnect it. Believe me, it's no fun having such a lousy short term memory but it is what it is.

So, if you ever wanna quickly disable a Mustang from starting, just get down under there and give a quater turn to that assembly. Works like a champ. <laughing>
