Wow, triggered much? It looks like there are inclusions in the steel. As well as radial cracking and the overall grain structure looks inconsistent. Looks like shitty steel to me.
Well Boo, Hoo, Let all get the Great GT500 and then we can all be saved. Or, I bet if you looked at the break with a 30x magnifier I bet it will show material, granular inconsistencies. Good luck.

Made some good progress today. Engine is in, the headers are installed and the motor mounts are on. It was a bit of a chore trying to get some work done on my car and tending to my job, but I managed.

Got it all buttoned up today, went to start it and no start. After several attempts I broke out the scanner and I got a low fuel pressure code. After thinking about for a few minutes I decided to pull the di pump and sure enough there was no fuel pump lifter in the bore. I wasn’t %100 sure the mustang used one but I knew every corvette and camaro that I used to work on Did. After sending a DM over to @turnswrench he confirmed what I was thinking. So now I’m in the hunt for a di pump follower. Going to have to wait until Monday when the local dealership is open. The only other thing bugging me is a click sound from the front of the engine when it was cranking. I’m hoping it’s nothing, but one never knows

Once oil pressure is up and tensioners are all oiled up clicking should go away at least mine did.

What is the difference between the f150 and the mustang shortblock? Because the f150 is still $1800 and pretty much the same thing
Any one able to confirm the blocks are the same ?
Different part numbers.
That’s a $700 spread for the same thing (if it is )

They are the same except for a few exterior items not included on the F150 short block. From the product photo, the F150 short block doesn't include oil pump, oil filter mount, oil to water cooler and some misc. hardware.

There's also a round gasket JT4Z-9E583-A that sits above the follower #9C587.

Looks like that’s an o ring. My pump has an o ring on it. Is there nothing that goes between the pump and the mounting flange? I just want to make sure I’m not missing anything that might affect pump preload

Also a quick look at my tune file this morning confirmed what I was thinking. Start up is %100 di. Explains why it wouldn’t start
