guys chill out. I have the same tick as well and happend after my first oil change. Tick is only there for like4min when cold then it stops. Just SEND IT and enjoy the car :)
Its after that 4 minute period while hot is what people get worried about.

F it.. I through my tune back on it, cancelled appt, if the tick comes back or gets worse I'll reschedule, I have a hard time believing there is am issue with all these engines, when high horsepower engines are built from with high quality parts, some of these has knock at idle.. I cant imagine this is anything serious after thinking long and hard, did not find any metal in the oil filter I pulled put last week either.

Mine was actually just about non existent.. after loading tune and starting I heard it again.. I'm going to wait a bit and see if it's always there at startup or one off chance.. I did have a few times during week where 1 time I started no tick, shut off and back on and had a tick so we will see.. I am beginning to think the net made me crazy with this

Do you think what ford puts in the motor from the factory is Just & only the 10 quarts of spec’d Oil?

I think they use a break in oil, I don't believe its Motor craft blend run of the mill. Could be wrong, but that's my bet.

If you don't see metal shavings in the filter, just keep sending it..

I think they use a break in oil......
So Why would someone change their oil before 3 or 5k ?
Some manufacturers won’t change their break in oil till the designated mileage is achieved. Some are as high as 10k

From what i heard they use a synthetic blend.. I dont think its a break in oil. I changed mine to full synthetic at 1175 miles

Prematurely draining the initial factory fill motor oil is not the best idea. Modern oil additive packages activate with longer use, to the point of recommended drain interval.
I'm an advocate of Euro spec. oils Group 4 / 5. API spec. syn-3 oils are "Fake" synthetic oils.............
Up to 2017 Castrol Edge Professional oils were labeled as Made in Germany. As of 2018 Edge Professional E is no longer Made in Germany (USA). The color and odor between the two are vastly different. What also interesting is Jaguar / LR switched from Castrol Pro E to Liqui-Moly as factory Spec. oil in 2018. Hummmmmm.

My point, Don't cheap out on API group 3 oils. Run the oil close to the oil change interval so the additives have a chance to activate and do their job. The days of 3k,4k,5k oil change intervals are long gone. Hell, Jaguar / Land Rovers newest 5.0 SC motor has a oil change interval of 15,000 miles when using Edge Pro E 0W-20 (now Liqui-Moly)

The factory fill is basic motorcraft synthetic blend I believe..

As someone else said, changing your factory fill too soon, can cause issues. There's no reason to change the oil at 600mi or 1500mi. My 18 was at 3800 on the factory fill, no noises or weird issues. Replaced with amsoil 5-30w sig series. Initial start up, no tick or anything. About 200mi on this on this fill. Still no noise. I also fill the filter before installing it. I did this on my 15 as well. Which saw many 8k shifts. No tick issues when I traded it in with 23k.

I just went ahead and changed mine at 3100 miles. Old oil looked a healthy amber color. They oem fomoco oil filter was quite a bit smaller/shorter than the fl500s recommended replacement. Put in 10 quarts Pennzoil Ultra Platinum 5w20. No ticking after change. Fyi.

Mine had the tap on the factory fill at like 40 miles, thats why I changed it at 1175, hoping it would go away, but no change. I also consider full synthetic better than synthetic blend obviously. I have a ton of amsoil signature series 5w30 I will probably put in next change to see if that makes a difference.

Also during break in I assume more than normal amounts of metal accumulate in the oil so, I figured I want to get it out of there asap after break in was complete (1000 miles)
