Have any 2019's had this yet? I seem to be mostly seeing 18 and older.
Yes! No difference between the 2018 - 2019 same exact engine.

Most long blocks and short blocks that have been replaced were built for the 2019 production year. Seeing that those motors developed issues as well I would say it will affect to 2019's too.

I would vote for leaving the factory fill for atleast 2500-3000 miles. I had my first oil change done at the dealership on my 16' at 1200 miles and wallaa started ticking. I think the factory fill comes with an additive already for break in.

I doubt the factory fill has any special additives if it did Ford would offer it over the shelf and put this ticking issue to rest. But who knows it's all speculation on the consumers end.

I’ve got 199 miles on my ‘19 and it definitely has the bbq tick. It’s not super loud and tends to go away after warming up. I’m not panicking or overly worried at this point but am definitely planning on adding an additive after break in.Been following this thread for a while and quite informative.... even somewhat information overload at times but I’ve got a hypothetical question. What if you tried tribotex and it didn’t quiet the bbq tick as much as desired, could you drain the tribotex/(oil of choice) and switch to ceratec/(oil of choice )?Would there be any negative reactions between the trace of tribotex left behind and the Ceratec ?

Factory fill at Flat Rock is only 5W-20, No additive!

Correct, that is what my engine states. Dealership does the oil changes and that is whats on the paperwork.
They do not put an additive in at Flat Rock. XL-17 has been long gone for many years.

reviving this thread
well guys my mustang had the famous BBQ tick with only few hundred miles on it but only when the engine was cold.
did the oil change right at 2200 miles
and yes the noise is more present than before
if i rev it to about 1800-1900 rmp the noise goes away. im not to worried about it plus my car is e85 tuned now so i would have to wait and put 93 to get it thru service so they can have it document it im not to worry about it as if it was something bad noise wouldnt go away at all
ive been lucky with all ny vechiles and never had a issue with any of them hopefully this is not the first one
my 12 gt was a mt82 car with 0 issues at 55k miles and alot of heavy foot abuse
either way i love my new pony this new 10 speed is just awesome

The oil from factory is amber, just like after an oil change, any XL-17 you would know, its thick and black, like sludge.
If you want to add XL-17, just let your car idle in the driveway for a few days after a fresh oil change. There! Now you have XL-17 in your oil. :like:
