Back pain?

My Mustang is "resting" for the winter, so it will be some time before I will attempt any adjustments. We have not had a lot of snow yet, so I could have driven it. But, it seems that every day that's pretty nice, I need the SUV to run errands.

I've been there with the back pain from driving, but not in a GT convertible. I love hitting the road and it'd kill me to have to give that up because of sciatic nerve issues. Have you tried any adjustments or remedies yet? I've been hunting for solutions that don't involve giving up my car or lengthy physio sessions.

I enjoy my GT convertible and I thought I would be keeping it for a few years. However, I seem to be experiencing considerable sciatic nerve pain after driving it for more than about 1/2 hour. My car is a GT premium convertible with the heated and cooled leather power seats. Has anyone else experienced similar problems or have a solution?

Basically the back pain is a diversion ftom something else going on in your life.i put 30 minutes a day into following his rules. Your subconscious is trying to redirect your subconscious from showing your anger or fear whatever it might be by reducing oxygen level t what ever is causing the pain and with some work it'll go away.dont get an mri.65% of back surgeries are redone or don't help.so watch the video buy his first 2 books and try it hope it helps

My mom had an issue with sciatica for a while and she bought a shaped donut looking seat cushion. I’m sure it had a special name but I can’t think of it now. It wasn’t a flat cushion pad, it was set up to take the pressure off her hamstring which was pinching a nerve. Perhaps your doc can recommend something to ease that nerve.

For me the problem is leather seats. I have no idea why but after about 15 minuets in a car with leather my back starts to hurt.

Try driving a mustang with cloth seats and see if that helps. If it does I'm sure someone would trade cloth for leather.

I have severe osteoarthritis with spinal stenosis and bone spurs. I have lost 5" in height because I no longer have disc material separating my vertebrae. I have been told by back specialists there is nothing more they can do for me after several back procedures. They were able to remove some of the bone spurs but they will grow back. I don't think videos are going to help!

I was forced to sell my Mustang because it got to the point I couldn't sit in it for 5 minutes.. I bought a BMW because I knew from previous experience they have much better seats. The pain will never go away. But, at least it's tolerable now. (I hate being this short. Losing that much height from your back really sucks when you drive).

I'm in a similar state. Severe degenerative spine problems, with spondylosis, stenosis, and foraminosis. I've had three discectomy/ foraminotomy procedures and two fusions (L3, 4, 5 and S1). The pain over the past 15+ years has been a battle of endurance. Once your spine has deteriorated so far, PT is a complete waste of time and can make things worse. Thank God for modern surgery. But because this is a progressive condition, once fixed, it's only a matter of time until it gets worse again. I recommend that you consult a good surgeon and get an MRI and x-rays to see what's wrong. Surgery works. Also, when the pain permits, exercise as much as possible. No weights, but LOTS of walking, and whatever else you can tolerate (biking, pickleball, etc.) is CRITICAL. I wish you all the best with this.

The GT cloth seats are extremely roomy, plush and comfortable, for me anyway. The lumbar adjustment is welcome too.

I have been seeing a good surgeon, had x-rays and MRIs. I've seen them too, very gruesome looking. Because of the damage, my age (80) and other health problems, I am not a good surgical candidate. At the rate my spine is compressing, if they do a remake of the Wizard of Oz, I'm auditioning for munchkin.

I’m right there with you man. I’m younger than you but; 3 herniated discs, stenosis, bone spur, arthritis, and a cyst. All in the lower 3 vertebrae. I’m sort of in “remission” from pain right now, due to a really well placed cortisone shot and some hardcore physical therapy.

And yes, compared to the BMW seats the mustang seats are horrible. The seat cushion is too short by about 3-4” for anyone with longer legs, regardless of height. If they had the extender like BMW seats, they’d be awesome, and you’d likely still have your Mustang.

Multiple cortisone shots have had no affect. I miss not having a back seat sometimes, but otherwise I'm quite happy with the Z4. It's quicker than my Mustang GT and handles much better.

Man, I totally get where you're coming from. I had a sweet ride I loved, but after about 30 minutes behind the wheel, my back would start screaming at me. It was super annoying, especially since I looked forward to those drives to unwind.

What helped me a ton, aside from messing around with seat adjustments and making sure to take stretch breaks, was getting some advice from registered physiotherapists. I was a bit skeptical at first, thinking I just needed to get used to it, but they hooked me up with some specific stretches and posture tips that made a huge difference.

Find a hot yoga studio. I go Monday through Friday to the 6 am classes. Life changing where the spine, hips, and hamstrings are concerned. It will suck in the beginning, no way around it, but the rewards are worth it. I also lift in the evenings for thirty minutes (moderately heavy with respect to my age and body type).
