Yes, and that's with that 'big' wing holding it back and (most likely) the windows down.

A UK GT with a best pull of 704 whp ("Today the car pulled from 688whp, 694 and 698 and managed a best of 704whp") went 203 mph in 1.2 miles : https://www.mustang6g.com/forums/threads/my-supercharged-200-mph-build.131531/

The GT500 is about 690 to the wheel totally stock - I'm defo in the camp that thinks given enough room, the 500's delimited top speed would begin with a 2 :like:

No reason it shouldn't hit 200+ stock with just the limiter removed.

Not the 2020+ cars. 13-14 GT500's did.
I dont see how. The 2020 GT500 has 100 more horsepower and a better drag coefficient than the 2013-2014 GT500's. I'd assume the only thing holding it back is the speed limiter

I agree. Even with the limiter, it let me go a bit faster. Keep in mind this a GPS speed. The GPS is a qstarz extreme 10hz (with ample sat coverage). The car, if the limiter removed, has much more in it. All you need is the real estate. The screenshots below are the highest speeds obtained. By then, it was time to get off the throttle and onto the brakes to make turn 1.

The point of this is that the car has the ability, but the speed limiter and real estate will keep you from going there. And for what it's worth, I was told the limiting factor for these cars is the outer CV joints. I had a failure the first time out at Daytona due to overheating and grease drop point. That failure has been experienced by other 500 drivers. One driver in particular had this occur twice. He finally rebuilt his cvs with high temp grease. That solves the problem.

On another note, you don't just hop in your car and drive these speeds. A lot of prep needs to go into the car. A tire failure would be catastrophic.

The car in the video was the GT500 Venom 1000. The car was tuned and had a pully to get 1000 hp. You would think if at that hp it only did 204, the stock car is not going to get to 200 with a tune???? How many more ponies do you get out of just a tune? e85 you would get a few more but 1000? I don't know.

I still want to see a completely stock car with the only mod being the speed limiter turned off going all out to see what it can do.

They may have known due to aero, the car cannot do much more and are going to save the next all out for their 1200 hp version? That would be my guess at letting up but I am no professional race car/test car driver.

You don't need a s/c to go that fast, it most likely is robbing it of so much power and then the intake headed air causing the timing retard. Those cars should have come with twin hair driers. not a blower.

That, my good man, has yet to be realized by the vast majority of car owners, that don’t track their cars, that frequent these forums.

Aerodynamic instability would be my guess.
Yep, I bet he was getting some unwanted movement and pulled back. Might not have had enough down force on the Front and or rear to give it the stability one would need to go into the 200 range. Nice run through the mild turns.

Not enough down force? What about this?
The driver, Brian Smith (FPRS) hit the rev limiter. He said "If we had a shorter 6th gear
we could have kept going."

A one-way top speed run isn't official...GM ran a stock 6th gen ZL1 A10 one way to 202 mph. The other way it went 194 mph for a two-way official average of 198 mph. So, a 1000 hp GT500 is 2 mph faster than a stock ZL1 on a one-way run. Nice.

Probably the most ignorant post I've seen in recent times.
