Not planning on it, but definitely rooting for the S550s! Not that it was high on my list, but I am chasing caribou in Alaska this year. Kind of took up any spare funds. Not to mention our local site got shut down, our committee is struggling to find new locations, and the prospect of pulling a car 2-3 hours for 6-10 runs doesn't seem appealing anymore.

Sounds like it's time to come run our TX region SCCA time trials. Great tracks - ECR, MSR, a mix of 1 and 2 day events with more track time than your tires can handle (4x20min sessions). Your car would do great. And the TT aspect makes it great competition. At our recent ECR event we had the front of the grid (by time) filled with mustangs

Packwood tour was a struggles and victories. Brought in Ryan Otis formerly of our region but transplanted to Texas and had him help with setup since my butt is tuned to a different drivetrain.

If you dont know Ryan, he's the guy that you love/hate to have as a local competitor. Constantly Top Pax. Typically seen now in a ZLE with just shocks, front springs, and wheels/tires. Hes better than good.

The struggles:
Since the SC was added, we have had horrible delay with throttle response in both direction. Wengerd pretty much couldn't help. Basically, there's a ~2/10th delay when you roll into throttle before power builds and a 2/10s delay in power reduction after a lift. And then when it does lift, its a soft lift.

So you try to get a little throttle in slalom? Feels like turbo lag. Lift off throttle? Car pushes an extra 2/10s. At 40mph that's 5ft.

The worst part is the lack of weight transfer. You basically cant lift rotate. Which SUUUUCCCKKS. It takes at least a second to get full engine braking at which point its too soft and too late.

Also, the throttle was basically 10%-40% was 10-90% of the power. 50-100% is almost no change.

Why? When you give the car 30% throttle, it shoots to 80-90% throttle body position to achieve its torque target. Above 50% throttle, its asking for torque that's unavailable (thanks drag racing tuners...)

The victories:
Not the times... those were off the mark.

I researched and compared Procharger and Whipple base tunes via PCMTec and found the Whipple "driver requested torque" map (auF62990) asks for less torque for a given throttle in the mid range. So I copied over a few maps from that tune and logged each run.

The result was so dramatic that on sunday the handling and driveability were massively improved. Lift rotation was not only a go, but a guarantee. EEK! All the time we spent trying to get rotation without weight transfer meant now we get all of it with weight transfer.

TLDR: Saturday we scrubbed new RE71rz, and tried to drive around the suck. Sunday tires felt way better, throttle massively improved, now back was very loose off throttle.

The conservative composite times possible would have been about 11th pax by Ryan. Cause he's a legend and can drive a bad car fast.

To-do for next weekends ProSolo:
We'll stiffen front bar one step, and move wing up one step. I'll re-check alignment and likely dial in another 32nd of rear toe-in.

Also going to do some logs to verify which maps are active to control torque and part throttle. Then work on softening the low and mid range so power is more linear and using 20-80% throttle.

Weight Update:
Down to 3660 @ 1/4 tank.
Weight to lose of what I'll actually do next: -85lbs
Weight I could lose but likely wont do cause street car: -187lbs (over the -85 above)

Possible to get car to sub 3400lbs with SC and Wing, but minus AC and Stereo and running CF doors. Weight dist with that setup would be 52/48

Good to hear you got the throttle issue worked out, almost all of my transfer comes from that drop throttle weight transfer. One of the reasons I went with the tuner I did so I could drive to him and have him tune in car. We barely worked on power gains, and instead spent all of our time on throttle mapping.

Had a tricky course this event and the high hp cars didn't have the advantages we had at the last event. Ended up 2nd in CAM and 7th overall in PAX. At some point I really need to lock in and make a decision to adress the weight as teh car is still 4,000+ with me in it.

Yeah, its all about using rebound and spring for low speed rotation and the wing to stabilize the car as speeds increase. Not a net aero gain.

Good to hear you got the throttle issue worked out, almost all of my transfer comes from that drop throttle weight transfer. Ryan was saying his camaro snaps the throttle closed as fast as his foot can come off the pedal giving as much transfer as you ask for. Said on the street it can be harsh, but on track its great.

Ive been working on mine, I was 4040 at crows with me and 1/2 tank but with some work since then Im at 3870 (Im 210 in the birthday suit) at 1/4 tank. About 80lbs is in the wing and SC.

I starved the engine in LIncoln with quarter tank so unless you've modified tank / fuel system, I'd run more than that (not sure if you were planning to).

It looked really pretty, wish shiny carbon parts and really good looking paing - It had a bunch of ppf in places.
Owners also brought it to Toledo local previous weekend (I know them pretty well, they typically run 28 so we're always neighbors in the grid) so they're not shy about running it in autocross which is awesome as 99% of these will sit in the garages for most of their lives and go to car shows every 6 weeks. With driver it weighed ~4,350 if I remember correctly.

Also this car in the current state of the world is literally a decent investment which sounds weird for a car.

Packwood Pro quick recap.

Did a bunch of tweaks between Tour/Pro to the Tune and Alignment. Found rear camber arm was completely loose on the Passenger side. Whoops.

Setup was 550/700, Eibach FSB on middle, No rear bar. -3.5/-2.0 camber.

I think we were running the shocks way too high but overall the car is getting a lot better. Still not quite enough lift rotation but getting closer. This setup put power down crazy good out of corners though which was amazing.

I ordered a 20mm RSB from Ebay off a early vert to measure since the OEM PP 22.2mm bar always seems to be a bit too much.

Measuring the pinch at the endlinks the 20mm bar is 0.120" wall. The 22.2mm bar is a 0.140" wall FYI. Doing the math on it, the 20mm bar with thinner wall is 66% as stiff as the 22.2mm which has a published rate of ~120lb/in. So the smaller bar is ~80lb/in.

This upcoming weekend I'll be trying the Eibach bar on full stiff (3/3), 20mm bar, and resetting MCS settings back to initial recommended. We have a Test n tune saturday afternoon and if morning comp runs feel like Ive gone in the wrong direction I'll revert and run again to see if lose/gain time.

A friend took delivery of his and I got to watch it. The Ford engineer got real squirrelly when I started asking about weight, and where they found weight savings.

I was just trying to steal some ideas of what they did on the GTD, but getting a straight answer is rough.

1 spot on saw on that car was the emissions evap system, there's probably 15 lbs, if not more, of stuff under the hood recirculating exhaust into the intake to get the cats fired up faster.
