I hear the tuners have broken open programming on the dark horse… I’ve got to take exception to the brake comment because I’ve got six piston Brembo’s on my 23 Mach1.
All Mach 1’s have the same brakes. The DarkHorse brakes are better than the M1 brakes.

How do you measure better brakes? I heard the video and DH seems to have larger disks in front and 4 piston calipers i the rear, but do they stop DH faster?

In my humble opinion, the best thing Ford could do would be to kill the hideous dark horse and bring back the Mach one. From an outsider perspective, I believe the Mach one is the most desirable Mustang and it’s not even close.
All Ford has to to is leave the DH badges in the pallet, and bring the pallets marked Mach 1 and start slapping them on during assembly, and voila, you've got the new Mach 1, not to forget a white shifter ball in place of the blue titanium, and there's the New Mach 1. Or do you mean retooling to make a car they've not made in years, which will be about the price of a Shelby Super Snake? The S550 is gone. Plus once they unlock the ECU it's all over for older cars. Presently the S650 is being held back by Ford's refusal to unlock that pesky old ECU.

He meant the rear brakes. On which I'd add a question how many ever had problems with rear brakes not keeping up? Few serious track junkies only perhaps. It's marketing move more than anything, Mach 1 has all you really need for spirited driving.

Exactly the point. Bigger brake discs are irrelevant, they don't increase the braking force. Basically only tyres matter. Bigger brake pads and discs are good only for endurance, so again for serious track use. And how many people overheated Mach 1 brakes? They had to improve something so anyone would even buy it.

Yes my comment was very much 'tongue in cheek' - it seems that they (tyres) are either ignored or highlighted, depending on what suits the agenda thats being pushed.

I'm going to be running my own (very) unscientific testing on that quite soon.

I will be swapping from a 255 Michelin to a 285 Conti - with no other changes to brakes or camber etc.

I've pulled some quite high G on the Michelins during high speed 'smooth' braking (100+ mph down to 10 mph), on a known stretch of good tarmac, with the odd chirp from the ABS.

It will be interesting to see under the same conditions, how much difference an extra 60mm of rubber on the front will make (80mm on the rear).

Edit to add a link - make sure to watch to the end :

Eruption Green is so awesome on the Mach's.

And I love the GT350's/R's but I'm seeing a lot of people choose the Mach 1 over it due to the reliability of the coyote over the voodoo. There's even a few threads of some dudes trading out of their 350's for a M1HP. R's are holding their value quite well and even gone back past the MSRP, but the 350's overall are lower than Mach 1 prices.
Not in my area, Mach1's pop up for sale less but are usually 54-58K, but GT350's with similar milage are still going for low to mid 60's, nearly 70k.

If I bought new today I'd be buying a dark horse. The only reason to choose a Mach 1 over one is the significant cost savings due to inflation. The dark horse does have superior brakes which the Mach 1 should've had versus PP1 hand me downs. Vorshlag's numbers with the dark horse are impressive. It also sounds like HP Tuners has finally cracked the S650.
That is debatable. I track my Mach 1 and have had zero issues with brakes. I was using G-Loc R10(f) and R8(r) and now use R12/10. The car stops hard. With good tires and track pads, I would doubt the Mach 1's braking is that much inferior to the DH. Stock, there is about an 8-10' difference in 60-0 braking between the 2 cars.

To be frank, my question was not `tongue in cheek`. I knew DH had better brakes by the spec, but it was also heavier. So the outcome was not that obvious. After your reply I did some serious(tm) research on the internet and indeed, everyone is quoting the shorter stopping distance of DH. The indication which tyres where compared is usually not that promoted though.

I absolutely love the DH including the interior screens on the dashboard. If they can really do a custom naturally aspirated tune, that will be very compelling.

I always wondered where the dark horse name came from, until I came across this.

Days away. Just one day. Yesterday. But I'm sure they can wait until it hits the market. was planning on beating my wife in a race. Going to have to do it before she gets a tune in her '25. But since she has an A10 she'll most likely best me.
