I was looking for Mach 1 and dealing with dealerships and found a Mach 1 for few grand over. Do you think it’s worth buying Mach 1 HP for a daily driver?

what additional maintenance costs will I be paying if I buy a Mach 1 HP instead of a regular Mach 1.

Any help is appreciated.

There is zero additional maintenance with a Mach 1 HP. You get more expensive wheels and a splitter that you have to be a little careful with if pulling into something with a steep incline. One thing I highly recommend is changing the Cup 2 tires out ASAP because they are not good daily driving tires.

I think I average around 15.2 MPG and I just hit over 1000 miles so the car definitely sucks up gas with the 6 speed but it's worth every penny. It's a blast to drive and you can swap between the normal, sport modes on suspension depending on how you want to drive. Normal mode is very comfortable. Sport definitely stiffens things up a bit.

In your case, you may want some all seasons due to your location. In Texas, you can drive on summer tires majority of the days.

Biggest issue would be the tires and the wheel size. The Cup 2's are not friendly for daily driving or cold weather if you drive in colder weather. If you need All Season tires you'll find there aren't many options that fit well on an 11" wide wheel in the rear. Personally I'd still get the Handling Package and another set of wheels and tires if so inclined. The lower splitter on the HP may cause clearance issues, but both cars are comfortable and ride well as neither has very stiff springs. One member on here used rivnuts to make the lower splitter easily removable which I intend to do as well.

If you won't be tracking it, you're better off with buying non-HP and getting set of HP wheels with PS4S tyres (thus having summer and winter set) and big spoiler. Splitter would be troublesome for daily driving. It's also lot cheaper than factory HP package (cca 2.5k for wheels + tyres + spoiler without Guerney flap).

i live in Memphis TN, so it’s not that cold but yeah I will switch them out. I do like wheels i want to keep them but just want to switch the tires. And it’s almost summer incoming here.

Is that mostly city? I know my gearing is a little different but I get over 20MPG in my Bullitt.

I daily PS4s year round in PA this winter no issues, even when its gets down to the 30's (they are rated for over 40*) The new PS5 and 5s will likely be a great daily.

The question is if they will be made for your 11in wheel or not.

If the car will NEVER see track use, personally I'd skip the HP as it will just mean much more $$ spent on tires over the life of the car and you'll have to worry about fitting in places with the lip. It wont give you anything you'd benefit from if not on the track.

I do want to take it to the track once or twice a year but it just won’t be that often.

The PS4’s are all season ones? Or the summer ones?

Do you think its a bad choice to spend that 2k and get the HP?

PS4 is an all-season.

PS4S is a summer. I tried to drive on the 4S in 1/8" of snow and it was a nightmare. If you can guarentee that every time you drive you have 2-3 miles of road where you will never have to swerve, never have to brake hard, and never have icy/snow pavement till you get a modicum of heat into the tire, then sure, run them in the cold. Personally I think it's most unwise.

All season tires basically stop at 285 width. They'll spoon onto 11" rims well enough.

the HP is 'kakkoii' but provides no value for non-track driving.

Well if you mean a 1/4 track or a road track? In a 1/4 track there will be no difference in the two. Your driving will matter more. For myself I know that on a Road course I am NOT a good enough driver that the changes would have an impact. So, I'd be fine saving the 2k for mods or a set of snow or track tires.

Really what matters is, do you think you will wish you got the HP anyway even if you dont use it?

I live in a place where it doesn’t snow.

so I need to be careful about my rear tyres because I cannot find the all seasons.

PS4S are summer tyres only. Good for tracking once a year. And 10x longer lifetime than Cup2's apparently.

If you can get HP for only 2k more than non-HP then go for it by all means. The normal cost of HP is +$4500 in 2022 iirc. And you'll sell Cup2's for nice money still.
