I fail to see how either of those two issues have any relevance with each other. One is an intentional subversion of federal law, the other is accidental.
Would expect that from a member name starting with EV!

Then again, I'm a little sensitive from being forced to move 3 times when my Tesla burned my house down.

I agree we need to find a better solution then gas cars.

BUT how about instead of " we are goignt o make gas high and force you to buy one"
try
" We are installing cheap charging station at office parks and parking lots. If you buy a new electric car we will install a new outlet for charging"

They think the stick motivates more then the carrot

Not in bully DNA to reward instead of pummel.

Not to worry. Even govt won't be able to force it unless just about everyone wants it. See: 18th amendment.

But ICE production could dry up very quickly when/if EVs can be refilled as fast and as conveniently as an ICE. That's much more likely to take decades than years.

Range is a red herring. Range only matters because of how long it takes to recharge and to a lesser degree finding a charger.

There is approximately 0% of new car buyers who would refuse to buy an ICE that had a 300 mile range or would choose an ICE they didn't like as much to get some number over 300.

Since nobody knows when or if EV charging will become as quick or convenient, it's not anything to worry about for almost anybody. But if it happens, it will be sad for the tiny minority of us who will miss the sounds and exercising skills related to driving or working on ICE. Anything affordable just won't be built for the tiny volume that could be sold.

Just thought I'd post this. Owner said it drove itself into the pole

Clearly the owner should have bought a Mustang ... :giggle:

Self-driving cars will kill the notion of ownership for many (most?). A fleet of cars circulating throughout a city and no one will care about EV vs ICE. An EV drops out of circulation to charge and then returns. I see no way this doesn't happen unless the people in charge don't want it. 2035 to 2040 I think is reasonable.

This will never happen because people want the convenience of having their own car

It absolutely will happen and your use of the word "never" illustrates you haven't thought through the scenarios. People in cities already use taxis and ubers. Remember that these self driving cars will be in circulation throughout the city and readily available. Obviously the issues are different for non-urban dwellers.

Yet in almost all of these cities except a very small handful (NYC, ...?) people still own cars

And when self-driving constantly circulating cars are available their thoughts on ownership will shift. Each new generation doesn't share your, or my, emphasis on the now or the past.

I have a Cobb Accesport w/Cobb and EQT tunes on my GTI My fuel economy, when driving in a reasonable manner, is significantly better with the stage 2 EQT tune compared to stock. I would have to think the increased efficiency is more environmentally friendly.
