Tried to remove the power cable from the F$&@! TCU modem last month, but couldn’t. Too tight.
So I removed the 2 coax cables instead. I supposed they are the ones that carry the data.
Have not removed the power or the fuse. So the modem still calls home but with nothing to say.

Alot of us are mainly concerned with vehicle data and/or location that can be shared with Ford and possibly deny warranty coverage. I don't think anyone on here realistically thinks they are 100% off the grid with cell phones and whatnot.

I personally don't care if the FBI knows where I am on Saturday night. What I do care is Ford knowing that I took my car to 7500rpm one too many times and denying warranty for abuse.

Thanks for the Google info, Jaime. Yet another reason to stay away from Chrome. I have been completely happy just pulling the fuse. Ford Pass is completely dead now.

The shear fact that Ford won the recent lawsuit in the State of Washington shouldbe unsettling.

That particular lawsuit that the Ford vehicle owner/operator
(who brought the suit for what he believed was FordPass invading their privacy)
lost in court, do to the fine print nonsense we all despise, that said all residents of the state agreed to surrender their text messages lifted from your phone. Not unlike how you agreed to give Google access to all your photographs when you use a certain portion of their app.

Now that this lawsuit was lost by the Ford veh owner, which allows
(by setting a presidence in that state, which could easily creep into other states)
FoMoCo (thru FordPass) to capture your text messages directly from your phone, & do with them, whatever they so choose. LITERALLY whatever they want, as it is now their property, you surrendered by accepting the agreement terms of FordPass.

Think about that for a minute when your insurance company, or your extended warranty folks, buys that information, after they need an out for something...

I'm sure I will be called Anti-Gov again, as before, for pointing out these privacy encroachments nobody would want, just to know tire pressure, or to unlock your car, cuz you cannot keep your keys in your pocket when returning from an airline flight.

It varies by year, but it has consistently thus far been a 5A fuse labeled telematics.

Sorry to add fuel to the crazy conspiracy fire but I find myself more and more just wanting to opt out of the convenience for the inconvenience of it all. I don't think they're out to get you, but that doesn't mean I want to play their game.

The FordPass concept is a really interesting concept. Isn't it great that you can remote start your car, monitor some key vitals, and also determine its position? Well, yes it is.

However there is a dark side to all of this. Ford monitors how your car is driven, position, and certain parameters such as speed and how you drive.

Have a look at the Ford Pass privacy policy. They are pretty straight forward how they will use your data and what it could mean to you and your privacy.

I'm all for these neat features. But what I dont understand is why corporate America feels the necessity to capture my data and use it as a tool for what?

I just had my CFTP delivered. I am already in the process of disabling the data connection of my CFTP to Mother Ford. My tech says he knows how to disable the link and I'm looking forward to hearing his approach to how to get this done. I recently came across a thread over in the GT350 section that addresses this issue. Could it be as simple as pulling a fuse? So far, no other system has been affected ny disabling this data link.

I'll be working with my tech to see what he has to suggest. So far, if it is as simple as pulling a fuse, all those who have concerns about your data, your driving habits, and your privacy are being used now have an option.

Initially, anyone who is concerned with how ford collects data associated with you has the option to opt out. The way I read it is that you can opt out, but you are opting out of the ford pass program. Data that is specific to your VIN is still being collected. How it is stored and used from that point on is a mystery.

I plant to opt out, and disable the data link. It is none of Fords business how I drive my car, where I go, or how I utilize a car that i bought and paid for.

So, i think that this is an interesting subject, both from a tech standpoint as well as from a privacy perspective.

Your thoughts, please.

Data collection & selling is one of the biggest money making "schemes" out there. Companies harvest your data, claiming for it to be used for things like marketing, product improvements, future updates, etc., but sell it to various companies instead.

I've been getting more and more into user privacy the last few years, and started disabling & deleting various accounts and other things that could interfere with those goals. This YouTube channel does a great job of explaining everything, and it's quite sad we have to go to such extremes. Hardest thing I've ever done was removing everything Google from my life.

Brett: The info is on pages 230-231 in the Mustang manual. I combined the pertinent graphics into one image. The panel is the passenger side under the kick panel and the fuse you want is #8.
