Just a heads up since this question is asked about Ford stopping production in the winter months. This is due to the Summer performance tires specs which do not allow you to move the car around without damage to the tire compound at certain temps. This discussion was made today with Noah of Ford Performance should you wish to confirm.

Is this for all GT500s or just the CFTP cars? I thought the base tire were good to go with the cold temps.

All GT500 and all have the Summer performance tires and yeah wish I was wrong cause I have a base ordered. And Noah I spent a lot of time talking about the future lol. Meaning I ordered mine this last September and I as many here have no VIN. I asked him when will VINs be assigned again and when does production stop which he answered no more Vins to be assigned for another 30 days and production has stopped and will resume early March. Ugh this sucks and told him why not install different wheels and tires to continue production and ship the factory wheels and tires to be installed at the dealer and or consumers discretion. But now that would make to much sense and he agrees but Ford says nope ain’t doing that. I own the Hellcats as well over the years and they are built in Brambelton Canada and they never stop making them in the winter months. And the Widebody Hellcats like what I own go down the assembly line with a whole different wheel and tire so they can roll off the same assembly line as the non Widebody models. They then install the wider wheels and tires later which makes such sense then delaying production. I feel the pain for all here snd for the record when I ordered my 2015 Hellcats the orders got stolen from me. The owner of the dealership took my order vins and gave them to his best friend so close to 2 years for me to get my first 2 Hellcats. And here’s my Redeye I picked up this past summer which the dealer showed me they ordered the car (I didn’t) last June of 2018 and did not get it till August of 2019.

So how does GM get away with building Corvettes, etc in Jan-Mar? Average low in Kentucky is mid to low 20’s in the winter.

I think you may be pleasantly surprised when the prediction meets reality.

I’d take it in a heart beat and have in the past on my Hellcats.

WOW, that is super dissapointing. If thats the case then lets talk realistic time frames here. If they start back up in March Iam guessing many of us are talking May, June, July on the ground at the dealership. If thats true I think you can eliminate March or April for an actual delivery. Anyone want to chime in???????????? Iam truly disappointed about that news.

Yes it sucks and yes I think the May June delivery’s is probably accurate as well. And this is the second time I have spoken to Noah at Ford performance on this subject. I asked him this past October about the winter shut down slow down and it was the same conversation. Then in November and December I saw other members saying they ain’t shutting down and even Snoopy hinted it maybe a short shut down. So I asked again in the Production thread and no one really answered to the point Noah personally messaged me and told me to call him. I called him and asked the same question again and laughed that we are having the same discussions . And even said I don’t think some understand the Summer Performance Tires are not to be exposed to below 32 degree weather and most definitely cannot be moved around below 22 degrees. The compound material can fracture and the tire is defective and warranty is void as well. And Noah confirmed this is the main reason Ford stops production of all the GT cars that have the factory Summer Performance tires. And I have had major forum arguments on the Summer Performance Tire guidelines of use and storage protocol. And as stated on the other Production thread I hope I am wrong in what Noah said and Noah is wrong since I want my car now and not this summer. And I’m just the messenger not wishing harm here since I’m part of this. And with a glimmer of hope it will be a mild winter maybe a Ford starts production again in Mid early February instead of late February early March. Noah mentioned they are still working on the last cars before they close which maybe this coming week. But they are committed to getting all the present build done before they close. New vins are possible in 3-4 weeks he said as well.

Well my base model is going to be loaded on a rail car soon with upcoming highs in the single digits here in Minnesota. If the base model is also shut down due to tire concerns, I will have to pay particular attention during delivery.

Here’s some possible encouraging news from stixxx saying they restart production February 3rd. Yippee if this true and others have mentioned stixxx works at one of the plants:sunglasses:

I was told by my dealer in October that his rep told them my car, ordered in July will not be delivered until April. They knew back then.

I call Ford Performance weekly. Same info every week. No VIN. No build date. The guys are very pleasant, but they only know what is being told to them. Ford knows that none of us are going to cancel our orders and go get another car. They have great reviews coming out for the car that is practically sold out. They have no motivation to rush. Those of us who are sitting around begging for a build date is exactly what they want.

Unfortunately, as the director chairman and executor of the March Mustang Club, I am making the executive decision to rename the club: May Mustang Club. Two meanings - we are getting our cars in May or “we may or may not ever get our cars”. Lol. Sorry guys, in the trenches with you!
