Question about the GT hood vents. I see 2 wires going to them under the insulation. Are they functional in some way? I think I saw a post saying they were but what are the wires for...is there something that opens and closes by thermostat or some other mechanism?

Mainly I'm wondering because every time I wash the car or every time it rains some sort of pocket or something fills up inside there and the trapped water blows out on the windshield for a few minutes when you reach speeds of about 55 to 60 or so.

No big deal ...just wondering if there is a way to prevent that.
Thanks

As vents or "heat extractors", yes. But no wires go to them.

I pulled the insulation back a little and there is a wire going to each vent. Not sure what the wire does...looks like each one is just a ground wire or something.

I did try opening the hood after washing and in this case it runs down behind the insulation towards the front window...but that's no good because it gets the insulation wet.

Still not a big concern but if I can figure out what's holding the water inside the vent I might see if there's a way to prevent it.

Most likely a "catch" cable. It holds the on to the vent in case it comes loose from the hood.

That sounds much better than designing a vent that won't fly out

I'd rather have it fly off than beating/scratching up my hood.

I heard a rumor the signal indicators were going to be included in Job 2, but I guess that was just a rumor. I'm waiting on the aftermarket to go ahead and design some.

Alright, looks like all the aftermarket OEM's have something else to shoot for - 'FIRST S550 TO GO SO DAMN FAST THE VENTS FLEW OFF'. Extra points for said safety wire breaking off.

now i understand why the euro-spec gt v8 does NOT get those heat-extractors...
they would simply fly away letting the horse run at ist 155mph Limit for several miles on the Autobahn (an executive said at the premiere in Germany (Esse Motorshow), that they had done a lot to the car to make sure it can withstand those speedlevels common on the autobahns (i.e. larger oil coolers etc). so on the one Hand, the improved the car for europe, and on the other the got rid of that Hood vents (this can only mean, These vents are more Show than go! If you really would Need them anywhere, than on a german Autobahn, where you can go Stretches of dozens of miles at Speeds far North of 120mph).
